KUMB Writers Award 2004/05 – Teddy still in front

As, results-wise, a somewhat disappointing January came to a close, Teddy Sheringham remains in the lead for the 2004/05 KUMB Writers Award. Young Edward’s average score of 6.58 keeps him ahead of Nigel Reo-Coker in second place on 6.50, Marlon Harewood on 6.47 in third and Tomas Repka on 6.40 in fourth place.

However, Alan Pardew’s goalkeeping selection policy might yet have a bearing on the race for KUMB’s equivalent of the Oscars. Jimmy Walker has yet to play sufficient games for a listing on the chart but his current weighted average of 6.81 would see him top the table and, having recently been preferred in the starting line-up for league matches over Stephen Bywater, Walker requires only another four matches to qualify for a place on the leader board.

The KUMB Writers Awards, now in their fourth year, are compiled from the marks awarded to players by our intrepid bunch of match reporters as featured on the “fixtures” section of the site. The full listing, covering all Championship, League and FA Cup matches up to and including 29 January 2005 is as follows:
