Betway is only one of many gaming companies that sponsor football teams

Over the past 10 years or so, sport sponsorships have evolved quite a bit and nowadays you can see a number of sports teams wearing the logos and names of popular betting companies on their shirts.

And, when you think about how profitable the sponsorship business is, there's no better brand awareness campaign than displaying your brand to millions of fans who later place sports bets and play online slots.

The English Premier League is the most popular domestic football club competition in the entire world. Not only are these matches watched by football fans in England, it may surprise you to know that the majority of football aficionados can be found in many countries around the world. It's safe to say that football is a global phenomenon that entertains and fascinates fans all over the world. Thus, it is not surprising that Premier League clubs sign lucrative multi-million pound deals with various big brands.

Numerous surveys have shown that fans trust companies that sponsor their favourite teams more than the companies that don't. For instance, it's more likely that a fan of Real Madrid will bet online at bwin.com than any other betting site. Interested in learning more? Check out five of the main betting companies that have thrown their hats into English Premier League sponsorship arena.

Betway sponsors West Ham United

East London's claret and blue has had many successes in the past two seasons. For instance, they secured a European spot in the 2014-2015 season and have qualified for the Europa League again this year. Coincidently, their lucky streak began soon after it was announced that Betway was to be their newest sponsor. In this announcement, it was said that the two companies were forming a three-year partnership worth £20million.

Bet365 sponsors Stoke City

Stoke City and Bet365 have been thick as thieves since 2012. During this first year, Bet365 paid Stoke City a little over £1million. Since that time, their relationship has evolved greatly, and the amount paid out to Stoke City for the past two seasons was a staggering £3million per month. It's also important to note that the owner of this club is also a major shareholder in Bet365, which, for some, may be too close a connection.

Dafabet sponsors Sunderland

Another football club that has secured its financial future is Sunderland, by signing a very generous sponsorship with the Asian betting company Dafabet. Since the beginning of last season, Dafabet has been featured on the shirts of this popular North East club for all to see. Although the full details of this deal have not been made public, there are rumours that state that the deal in question is worth £12million over the next two years. Or, in other words, Sunderland will receive £6million a year from Dafabet.

TLCbets sponsors West Bromwich Albion

As you can tell by the above paragraph, Dafabet is quite 'active on the Asian betting market but they're not the only Asian gambling company that sponsors a team in the English Premier League. For instance, West Bromwich Albion signed a huge deal with TLCbet back in 2015. As part of this deal, the very popular Philippines-based online bookmaker will pay West Bromwich Albion approximately £2million every year, which is approximately £500,000 pounds more than Albion's last sponsorship deal.

138bet sponsors Watford

Yet another well-known Asian online betting website, 138bet, has also jumped into the football sponsorship foray. As a result, they have been one of the main sponsors of Watford since 2013. From this sponsorship deal, Watford has been paid £1million every year. Although this isn't one of the most lucrative partnerships out there, £1million is nothing to turn your nose up to.
