A light-hearted snooker challenge could prove to be the catalyst for an upturn in West Ham Unitedís fortunes this season.

Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez, Robert Snodgrass and Mark Noble proved their talents on the green baize as they teamed up with snooker legends Steve Davis and John Parrott to show off their cue skills.

The quartet took part in a zany snooker challenge hosted by Betway Ė a crazy-golf inspired game that features brilliant trick shots and some hilarious misses.

The snooker session appeared to have a major impact on the mood around the club, with the Hammers producing their best display of the season at Newcastle United over the weekend.

Goals by Hernandez (2) and Felipe Anderson secured a stunning 3-0 victory for West Ham to move them up to 13th in the table.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini will hope that that the positivity generated by the snooker challenge and the result at St Jamesí Park continues during the rest of December.

Successive home games against Cardiff City and Crystal Palace offer an excellent opportunity to get more points on the board and close the gap on the top 10 teams.

A trip to Fulham on December 15 should hold no fears, while Watford at home the following Saturday is also a winnable game.

Away fixtures at Southampton and Burnley round-off a favourable run of matches that could see West Ham end the year in the top half of the table.

If that is the case, donít be surprised to see the players taking part in another whacky challenge over the coming months.
