Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

I think Grealish, Gordon, Bowen, Rashford and Palmer are fighting over 3 spots and 10 weeks is a long time in football.

Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

MM - I have know idea why you seem so concerned Southgate wants to leave Bowen out? He has been in all the last few squads and has had pretty decent playing time. Bowen is an archetypal Southgate player with his versatility and ability to play in a system. I don’t really know either. :crylol: I’ll ...

Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

For the LW it’s probably 2 from Grealish, Rashford & Gordon For RW it’s probably 2 from Saka, Palmer & Bowen I’d say it’s a flip of a coin between Palmer & Bowen atm. That ignores Foden who Southgate doesn’t see as a central player. I think Fodens utility at left, right or 10 gives Sout...

Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

Deserved that.

As much as I have little faith in Southgate I will acknowledge we have a crazily imbalanced squad. An embarrassment of riches in forward positions - a curates egg at the back.

I think Southgate really appreciates him
Hope so. Just get the feeling he’ll be the ‘easy one to leave out’.

Pre-empting a summer-long campaign by the media to sell him to Liverpool ‘in order to improve his international chances’.

Bowen’s been really good I just have this nagging feeling (decades of supporting West Ham I suppose) that he’s going to miss out.

Needs a good game or won’t be going I don’t think. He doesn’t have enough cheerleaders in the media, no-one banging the drum for him. You wouldn’t even know he was in the squad he literally never gets a mention

Re: Educate me about.....

Head straight to Beggars Banquet (1968) and then work through the next three studio albums: Let it Bleed (1969), Sticky Fingers (1971) and double-album Exile on Main St. (1972). This is widely considered their most untouchable period, so there's your entry (oo-er, Keef!). If those four don't squeez...

Re: What did you watch last night?

3 Body Problem. Yet another Netflix less-than-subtle allegorical sci-fi come satire except this one’s really rather good. All sorts of existential tropes to get your head round (which all basically boil down to ‘wake up you stupid humans before it’s too late’) but there’s a bit of nuance and it’s cl...

Re: What did you watch last night?

Page Eight, (2011) Bill Nighy has that strange quality of only being able to play himself whilst speaking his lines in a totally unconvincing manner, yet you somehow manage to get past it. You can even throw in the absurdity of 25 years younger Rachel Weisz falling for his five times married charac...

Re: Netflix and Amazon Video

Never read the books but I’m digging it Pete. Netflix seem to be going pretty hard with all this existential ‘human beings are ****ing up the world’ type content (Don’t Look Up, Leave The World Behind etc) - this is by far the most interesting take yet. Sci-Fi meets satire that doesn’t beat you over...

Re: England -v- Brazil (C4 from 1900)

Funny thing is Bellingham’s more than capable and competent in a deeper role next to Rice. Ancelotti’s only played him as basically a striker because they’re stacked in midfield and didn’t replace Benzema. Southgate won’t go against the grain though Absolutely. And today was the perfect opportunity...
