Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham Utd - Match Thread

They sit back under the new bloke so it will be painful watching us try and play football with a tired XI while they look to hurt us with pace.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I guess the argument is though, that he was at the very least complicit in allowing the squad to get into the poor state it is now. (usual disclaimer that Sullivan is ultimately to blame) I agree and said the same a couple of days back. But we’ve also seen what happens to managers who try and chall...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

When going we all go to support our club but I think most fans would like to be entertained and excited, sadly doesn't happen often with moyes style off football How many fans of other clubs do you think say exactly the same? I often wonder how much is Moyes and West Ham and how much is just the ov...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think the only way we can play as we did last night is if we had the squad to do so. I doubt any team can go full pelt like we did in the first 45 for a sustained period . Even Klopp's heavy metal squad went as hard as we did last night. I don't know who's fault it is that we have a threadbare sq...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I don't agree. We were on the front foot all night and absolutely rattled them. The first leg for me highlighted his weaknesses where we just completely handed the game and played like we were leagues below them. Interestingly, a few comments from the players seem to suggest they were unhappy with ...

Simply we cannot do it when he only trusts 13/14 players. We will pay the piper on sunday (again)

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Lopetegui? Wouldn’t be on my list, but I don’t think you can measure him based on his time at Wolves. They were a car crash and he kept them up. Not much different to Moyes when he came back. Who knows how he’d set up with a better squad. It would also be at least in the same ballpark as Moyes in te...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think they are two different points. Is Moyes doing well against the level of spend? Yes. Would he do better and would the team play better if we spent more? I’m not convinced. When he has had more depth, he has barely used it. Would a few more players getting 20 minutes here and there make much o...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

Watched Man City a few times this season, and I genuinely struggle to see what he will offer them. I don't see where he fits there. He also seems to be too undisciplined to be a Pep type of player. He is undoubtably very good for us when he is on it, but for Man City? I don't see it. For me he slot...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Personally I don't think whether we are in Europe or not (unless Champions League) will have much impact on our ability to attract players Conference League and Europa League is unlikely ti be a sway for the best players we can aim for, and then for the players in the level below that playing in Pr...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

I find it interesting how the tone has changed since the Man City links resurfaced. Things he is being pulled up now which have always been part of his game but went unmentioned. The stats also paint a picture of a player being asked to do more. More passes per game than last season. More through ba...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Pining for something that you've never really had.... is a rather tragic look. While I agree that the football purist revisionism about the club tends to grate, for me the side is a worse watch now than a couple of seasons ago. We have some better individuals who are match winners but the team isn'...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Was speaking to a colleague yesterday who has a close link into the squad and I mentioned the rumour on here. His response was “that suggests there was some doubt about whether he’d stay”. Sounds like it may have been decided a long time ago.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I see why people want Potter, but he isn’t for me. I find his football really dull and his teams don’t trouble the opposition goal enough. He earned his stripes though. Fonseca Is an interesting one. Gut feel it wouldn’t work but it would certainly be a breath of fresh air in terms of style. Worth t...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I know this isn’t the point of your post, but it’s also worth highlighting the transfer windows during their managerial terms where no funds were made available when we had the chance to push on You’d almost think that the board are trying to slow our managers’ successes when we are in a promising ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Yeah but there is a reason 99% of clubs, owners, pundits, journos, players, fans etc would choose De Zerbi over Moyes. And its not because 99% are all wrong and some West Ham fans are right. Moyes has done wonders but De Zerbi is clearly a better coach and tactician, hence everyone in football laud...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think we have crossed the tipping point. I just hope the club moves quickly in the next appointment and backs him. Sullivan isn't usually too bad in terms of financial support for a new manager so it is just the nagging doubt as to whether someone of the right quality will work with him. But we ne...

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

Indeed mate, and while I've been offering an honest opinion you seem to have it in your mind that I'm trying to score internet points/have some sort of agenda/haven't criticised other players enough that you've deemed worse offenders than JWP. So I'll leave it there. Not at all mate, my post was a ...
