Re: Official Betting Thread
Newcastle look good value tonight @ 11/4
They ain't doing too well so far but pardew always seems to do enough to keep his job and pee off the fans a bit more and a win tonight will manage that

Re: Official Betting Thread
I've closed my Bet365 account.
I've had some decent days, weeks recently, some sh*te ones too.
But, this weekend, I lost £150, mostly profit and I didn't really care. Saw it as a number.
Then, I willy nilly just 'topped' my account up with £150 from my bank without a thought, without a care.
That doesn't sit right. £150 is £150. Felt like it was potentially the start of something iffy, so nipped it right in the bud.
Also, there's just too much. Throw ins, cards, penalties, extra time, minute ranges, Turkish 3rd division women's football, Chinese matches, Ugandan matches (yes, Ugandan matches) all sorts.
Too much scope, too much temptation to place soppy little bets here and there, distracting you from day to day stuff, temptation to place bets for the sake of it.
So, it's just the Spreads now, most of which will be the multi corners.
One market, one thing to focus on, specialise on and study further... remove the rest of the crap.
Few odd quid on NFL matches and will go into the bookies on a Friday evening after work for a simple £10 on a few accumulators over the weekend.
Hand over real money, real bet slip, real money lost/won - bit of perception and fun.
Done it late last night, instantly removed the £150 back out the betting account and self-excluded for 5 years.
Woke up this morning a lot happier and quite relieved.

Re: Official Betting Thread
Well done rars I wish I had that common sense a few years back I reckon I would have owned a house out right by now!
I have now self excluded from 99% of all sites. I now have two accounts one with a £25 a month limit
And one with a £50 a week limit
I also prefer the bookie cash in hand method as the money is real when it's in your hand. My new rule is that when in a bookies and having a go on the horses or dogs, every second winner gets paid onto my card
That way I can't waste the winnings and will be certain of walking out the bookies with more than I went in with

Re: Official Betting Thread
It's a mugs game.
If Betfair did not offer an in-running facility on Horse Racing I would almost certainly lose money over time.
I joined Betfair in 2005. And the in-running facility was where I started to make a profit.
If the In-running were to be stopped I don't think I could do much better than break even (at the very best)
Betting was in my genes. And I love it.................but I still think it's a mugs game. And that's not to decry anyone who gambles. But deep down I think we all know it.
Internet betting makes it worse. You almost bet in the third person, it's not like handing cash over to a betting shop cashier. People should definitely use the account restrictions.
I have a nephew who ended up going to Gamblers Anonymous. He was into gaming machines more than sports betting but it was horrible to see him struggling.

Re: Official Betting Thread
It does take a lot of self discipline to control the 'urge'...!
I've stopped 'gambling' now and have followed the matched betting style approach. Made £1500 since the end of June, taking advantage of free bet offers from the major players. Granted, the thrill isn't there but getting £10-£15 a day makes up for it. Having said that, never thought I would see the day where I actually cheered when Gerrard scored in the last minute in their last Champions Laegue game, meant my free £50 bet triggered and could turn into £40 guaranteed return.
Had never heard of Mike Cruickshank before, but glad I found him now

Like someone said earlier-mugs game.
Man City could save the day. Had a bullseye double with Chelsea.

Re: Official Betting Thread
Japanese GP
Not only is rain a near certainty on Sunday, there is a chance it may be cancelled because of a Typhoon.
Both Mercs are pretty decent in the wet, but a wet race, and the lottery it can become opens up some mega prices that need to be considered.
Jenson Button is 200/1 on Bet Victor. I can think of worse ways to waste £2 ew....
Vettle is 12/1 worth a small bet on the win.
Kyvat and Verne at 1000/1 might be worth tiny bets ew as well.
All the above are capable wet drivers.

Re: Official Betting Thread
Cheers Bendy.
Sure I can spare a tenner across that lot on the spreads.
0.5 for both the rank outsiders... £10 is a £5 loss each max. Not the end of the world!
Bit on Button too.
I am, at the moment, considering Dinamo Zagreb multis this evening, away at Celtic.
Buying @6, it's one of those that have jumped out at me.
