I backed Harris Tweed, he was unlucky.

Hanagan pipped me three times today. What a prick.

With regards to the spread betting, I'm looking at City v Newcastle & Shrewsbury v Chelsea tonight.

I'm looking at the bookings bet (10pts for yellow, 25pts for red).

The points range is 26-29. Does this mean that 3 yellow cards or more in the match means I'm starting to win? And if it's less than 3 bookings then I owe them?

Yeah, Bill, do you want that bet that Burnley will win at least 1 game this season?

Well of course not, why would I?

Being a gambling man, the odds are massively stacked against me for the same 'return'.

I suggested Burnley won't win a game when the likelihood is they will, as probability dictates so. However, I personally cannot see any strength in their squad and genuinely don't believe they have the ability for three points.

That's not to say I can't be proved wrong by a freak performance or a flukey last minute goal and then I'm £500 down.

It was a prediction, we all make them, doesn't necessarily mean I'd back it. I watch plenty of horse races every day, do I bet on every horse I "fancy"? No, otherwise I'd be skint.

I'll give you 10/1 on a tenner then, if it makes you happy?

The internet has opened up a wonderful way to bet. The ease & opportunity with which you can gamble was never available to me when I started betting. I do feel that it has it's downside though..

There is a massive psychological effect you have to overcome when betting on the internet.....almost a battle within. In the oldun days you made your way to the bookmakers, you wrote out your bets for the day.....and you left. Home to watch it on TV.

Take this scenario...

You go to the betting shop at 11.00am. You write out two bets on the same betting slip.

2.00 Ayr....£10 win Red Rum 4/1.
4.00 Sandown..... £20 win Sonny Somers at 2/1.

You then leave for home.

Alternatively, you make the exact same bets at home from your computer.

Moments before 2.00 you back Red Rum £10 at 4/1
Moments before 4.00 you back Sonny Somers £20 at 2/1.

Red Rum wins, Sonny Somers doesn't.

The man who has had his bet at the bookmakers goes back the next day and happily pockets his £20 profit.

The man who has made his bet on the internet doesn't see a £20 profit. He doesn't see the profit he has made since 2 o'clock is a very nice £20...............all he sees is that he is £20 down since 4 o'clock....and off he'll go to try to win back the £20 he now feels he is down. And you know the rest... Image

Seven runners, that will be the first two Rars.

Generally runs very handy, near the pace. Although only seven runners it is a decent E/W race to play in. Good luck.

Does anyone see any of the 3 o clock games as good value?
I'm looking to do a treble with teams at evens or more
As a clear form pick we are in there @ 11/5
So I'm looking for two more teams to make up the bet
Does anyone have any fancies that they can back up with some stats

Screech, the people with the most stats are the bookies, they have stoke as favourites for our game.
Of the other matches I fancy Everton at home and the Saints to win at Hull.
Also West Brom look good odds to win at a fading Leicester.

At the end of the day stats go out of the window as soon as the whistle is blown
Look at us last week!
Ok then instead of stats to back up your choice how about a reason for your choice
Ala west brom to beat a fading Leicester

West Brom have built a decent mid table squad and have an in form striker who is rapid.
Leicester have struggled since beating man utd. They only really have one threat in Ulloa and he seems to of been found out. Leicester just don't seem to have much about them.
Southampton are on blistering form, and it's hard to look past them. Yet at some point they are going to falter. same as us.
Id take Newcastle and liverpool to draw. The toon are starting to hit form, seem to be playing well and have an on form cb in coloccini. Scouse are struggling at the minute and unless balotelli is gonna be on form now, they lack a goal threat.

The reason for my choice?
I have nothing specific to be honest, just think the odds are good for a West Brom win, they look sharp up front and Leicester seem to have shot their bolt and are slowly sinking .
Nailed on a Leicester win now I have said all that.
At the end of the day Screech as you well know, you pays your money and you makes your choice.
