There is a lot of cholesterol in those them eggs there you know RARs, and lots of calories.

Re: the breakfast threadDyers
Direct cholesterol here is not an issue. Most of the bad cholesterol in your system comes as a by-product from your liver burning sh*t food you put in, whereas dietary cholesterol only makes up a relatively small percentage of your overall cholesterol level. As for calories, it's less about how many calories, more about what types. 500 calories of fresh fish, eggs, vegetables and brown rice? or 400 calories of Steak and Kidney pie? Protein rich, energy boosting calories are great, especially at the start of the day. My meals get smaller, the later the day gets.
Re: the breakfast thread
10 eggs, (around 500 calories) are not good for you. I wouldn't be eating them in a hurry I'm just going on what my GP said to me once, when I mentioned I ate at least a couple of eggs a day, thinking I was being all healthy. She said that was too many, because it is a cholesterol issue, and they contain the wrong type of calories, and that even poached, you should really only have a couple of cooked eggs a couple of times a week. The rest of the intake is taken up by having food that contains egg. I know there used to be the 'go to work on an egg' adverts encouraging us to eat more of them, but then I also know there used to be adverts saying that doctors advocated the use of tobacco... I will stick by what I say, too many eggs ain't good for you. One egg contains 300MG of cholesterol, which is the maximum daily intake as recommened by the british heart foundation. Now take the yolk out, and it's bye bye cholesterol.
Re: the breakfast threadI'd suggest your GP was edging on the old basis of 'let's be on the traditionally safe side'.
My views - along with various dietary/nutritional/fitness experts - are that eggs are an absolute wonder food. Put it this way - you'll get more cholesterol soluble in your body by eating various foods that are lower in dietary cholesterol but higher in *****, than you will by eating loads of cholesterol rich eggs. Why? Because much of the direct cholesterol in eggs is not absorbed and not much will get into your system if they are part of a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Whereas if you're eating loads of other foods, your liver burns this cr*p and the by product of that cr*p being burnt is...yep.. cholesterol which WILL be absorbed by the body. (PS - I'm not advocating eating 10 eggs, you penii As it stands, I eat on average about 12-15 eggs per week.

Re: the breakfast threadOn this, we agree
Re: the breakfast threadJust to confirm that Rars is right.
There is good and bad cholesterol. Like many things, cholesterol gets a bad name because it is associated with disease, most commonly furring of the arteries etc. But it's a generalisation. Our body needs cholesterol to function (just like it needs regular fat cells to function). We'd be ****ed without it. In fact low levels of good cholersterol actually increase the chances of heart attack, so by not getting good sources of cholesterol you are in fact making it more likely that you will **** yourself. Boiled or poached eggs are nang.

Which kind of answers your question for you.
Re: the breakfast threadThe title of their article is misleading.
The last line is the most imporant in that article.
For the instance of our discussion what I said is true. Because Cholesterol is essential for our body to function, hence it can't just be naturally bad for us. We need it. Which is what your article is saying. However, it is far easier to have high levels of LDL (which is why it is deemed bad) because it is more readily available in our modern diets and LDL is what clogs up our arteries not HDL. Hnce it's bad label. It's important what sources you get it from.
Re: the breakfast threadBowl of Shreddies this morning.
Re: the breakfast threadEggs must be bad for you, you never see a chicken eating one, anyone know how a chicken's cholesterol measures up.
Incidentally you know the reason why an egg is shaped like it is. So that the chicken's arse doesn't shut with a bang.
