Because when I get cash out, and want to know what my balance is, or see if a payment has cleared, I would rather read it on a small bit of paper, than on a lit up screen with some helmet looking over my shoulder.SoulCircus wrote:People who get a receipt when withdrawing cash from a cashpoint. Women who need 20 minutes between returning to their car at the petrol pump before they can leave the forecourt. Also women who require 20 minutes to audit the contents of their purse/handbag after paying at the supermarket checkout.
Get out of my way. NOW!

Re: Little things that irritate you
There is this lad that gets on my train occasionally in the morning.
He doesn't read a paper....doesnt read a book....or listen to an Ipod...he continuously plays with a rubix cube.
Rubix cubes are great, I have one, completed it 2 or 3 times in about as many years but find it quite relaxing! This kid completes them in about 2 minutes. does it over and over again. Why does he need to do this in front of everyone. he clearly doesnt need practice.
We all know you are edgy and wear "cooky" clothes, no need to act like a twat as well.

Why not do all these things online, no chance of anyone looking over your shoulder then...Dyer's Leg wrote:Because when I get cash out, and want to know what my balance is, or see if a payment has cleared, I would rather read it on a small bit of paper, than on a lit up screen with some helmet looking over my shoulder.

What happens if you don't have electronic banking?
Not everyone has a home PC and I certainly wouldn't do internet banking in one of the internet cafes or down the library..

I don't know, use your phone? I just don't see the need to get a piece of paper telling you you've drawn £20 out of a cashpoint..Hammers Dad wrote:What happens if you don't have electronic banking?

If someone wants to know their balance, they have to either:
1 - Travel to their local bank, by car, public transport or walk
2 - Buy a PC
3 - If a PC is already purchased, sign up for online banking and get used to the system, as well as the procedures needed to complete the action. That's not to mention having to have the added worry of security.
4 - Use their home or mobile phone, to make a call - probably at expense - to an automated system which they then have to spend a few moments getting out their card/account details in order to verify details.
... all because you don't think it's right that they spend an extra 3.6 seconds waiting for their balance slip to be published?

Because I don't walk about with a laptop round my neck, and if I am out and and need to see if a payment has gone in/out, I may as well do it while I am getting some cash out.SoulCircus wrote: Why not do all these things online, no chance of anyone looking over your shoulder then...
Besides, I can't get cash out on-line.
If it irritates people, f*** 'em.

Why do they have to phone up? Just go on your phone, access your internet account and peruse these details to your hearts content.rare as rockinghorse shat wrote:4 - Use their home or mobile phone, to make a call - probably at expense - to an automated system which they then have to spend a few moments getting out their card/account details in order to verify details.

Online Banking, why do I need my account number, my online passnumber and then a password that requires uppercase, lowercase and numerics and must be longer than 12digits?No wonder I always get the info I need from the cash machine.

They now have to use their mobile phones to access their internet.
Which means:
Option 3: sign up for online banking and get used to the system, as well as the procedures needed to complete the action. That's not to mention having to have the added worry of security
As well as
Option 3 (i): Use mobile phone tariff to access website - usually a slow, laborious process - in which customer may either; use valuable internet minutes or even be charged a high rate for data usage
OR
Customer has no internet enabled phone, or isn't savvy enough to setup, trust and use said service which means:
Option 3 (ii): Purchase internet enabled mobile phone, or visit mobile phone specialist in order to gain tutorial on how to access his account on the move.

And not just on-line banking, though they are the most obvious example, but anything that requires such a complicated signing in procedureorbital wrote:Online Banking, why do I need my account number, my online passnumber and then a password that requires uppercase, lowercase and numerics and must be longer than 12digits?No wonder I always get the info I need from the cash machine.
Why make it so bloody complicated that to have any chance of remembering it all you have to write it down somewhere?
Hardly great security if you have to write things down if you are to have any chance of remembering what you need to remember to log in

Well, this thread is about things that irritate, it irritates me so I think I've fulfilled the objective of the thread!rare as rockinghorse shat wrote: ... all because you don't think it's right that they spend an extra 3.6 seconds waiting for their balance slip to be published?
And you talk about security, most people who I see getting receipts read them and then either a) throw them on the floor or b) throw them in the bin. Hardly security conscious!

It irritates me that people find things I do irritating, but not enough that I give a f***.
Still, I dont get receipts at cash points, I check online, even though natwest online banking is gash and only good for checking and nothing else.

Puff's rant about our youth team in the U16 FA Cup thread.
I know he's an idiot, I know I should laugh at it and brush it off, but it's ignorance and bellendery of the highest order and it has pissed me off. I'm drawn to his posts out of sheer anthropologic fascination and they always bug me a little but this one did just wind me up.
