Little things that irritate you

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

As HD has mentioned, it raises awareness. Nobody had donated on the rars thread with over 100 views, so I donated and posted it so that others may follow. Nothing more.

nobody had posted on that thread with over 100 views.
a bump is good, but "nice initiative  " does the trick.

in some cases it does raises awareness, but not always.

by the way, it wasn't aimed at you specifically.

No warp, you are wrong again. Nobody had DONATED on that thread. I went to the just giving page to see if anybody had and nobody had, so I started the ball rolling :)

I don't follow, vote for or particularly favour any political party.

However, there are 3 people in politics who i absolutely detest.

1) Ed Milliband....a pathetic weak individual

2) William Hague....that voice of his makes me want to slit my throat

3) Nick Clegg....pack it in with those over exagerated hand gestures...there's only one hand gesture i have for you

when you open a charity web-page, and you see "James Fuckinstoke just donated £50".
i already got to the page, don't need further "awareness"!

The example you quoted is the Charity telling you that, not the person. Doesn't wash with your argument.

Putting anonymous doesn't stop the Charity showing it as the latest donation.

Also by putting anonymous how does the person you have sponsored know it was you then?

I think that's the point HD1.

for funk's sake, i wanted a rant, not argument! (wrong room perhaps)

anyway, that is the point HD1: if i donate, i don't want recognition of any kind, i don't do it to obtain gratitude or admiration.
if someone wants his name to be associated with a donation, my suspect is that there is something more in that person's mind other than "just giving", and that irritates me.

and if you put "anonymous", the charity shows that "someone" just donated, which isn't an issue of course.

My experience with Just Giving web pages is that if you make your donation annonymously then when people review the page it will say that but as the page owner when you log in you will see who actually donated, plus the donator gets an email saying thanks
