Little things in life that make you smile

I was reminded of this earlier today when I saw a sticker on a lamp post which read

Vote against the cuts

and thought with the simple addition of one letter I could confuse every voter! :D

Getting through a month off the booze. The most I've gone since starting work 25 years ago.

Little burn would like a "bow an nano" for his 10th birthday.

He is 10 in September 2020 so I have some time to save up

The sound Indiana Jones's revolver makes when he shoots someone with it, and the sound of Indy getting punched in the face. Two of cinema's great sound fx.

A meeting request being sent out to all UK staff, promoting the "Work Life Balance - can you have it all?" Initiative that's being run by one of the various useless departments in the organisation. It's scheduled for 6pm today, 45 minutes after official clocking off time.

Clearly they want you to leave early the next night to make up for it. Actually that's so nailed on I wouldn't even ask them, just walk off.

Went to the pub at 4 for a quick one, then got home just after 5. That's how to do the work/life balance.

Seems quite clear that they want to "improve" the work-life balance from their perspective by including more work and less life.

I've posted this in both the irritate AND smile threads as it did both to me this morning ....

Got petrol - got back in car - caught pocket of trousers on car - ripped trousers - put cd on - this track was on - The Hunter by 30 Seconds To Mars - contains these lyrics - "tear you to pieces, rip you apart" - you just couldn't make it up !!!

There's something satisfying about going to the pub for one pint (maybe two... maybe three), downing glass and then leaving on your pre-allocated time.

Needed a new indicator for my car, and the best I'd found was £43 from the local Ford dealer, if I collect it.
Was having a browse through eBay, to see if there was a second-hand one about, and one of the sponsored ads caught my eye.
I have just ordered an indicator for each side, delivered from Germany, for £41 in total :D

It took three hours on the phone, constant repetitions of 'Your call is important to us', and very dubious renditions of popular classic tunes, but I eventually got my car insurance down by over £600
