I once had a young lady leave an electric device in a box on my doorstep with a phone number to call if I wanted I watch her use it. I made myself available for that one.ageing hammer wrote:Isn't it amazing how this never happens if you are available
She made a lovely job of hoovering the carpets.................before anyone else comes out with it.
Still smiling thinking about this 25 years later.

Re: Little things in life that make you smile
Just watched a really old family video to see my then 5 year old daughter come out to the garden to tell me my all time favorite comedian Tommy Cooper was on the telly (an old repeat of a tribute show).
She runs out and shouts "Daddy the funny man is on the telly again,"
"What funny man" I asked
She smile and replies excitedly " Tommy Cooker "
You had to be there I suppose.

* sad fact here (at the risk of sounding like Uncle Albert).ageing hammer wrote:She smile and replies excitedly " Tommy Cooker "
The Germans used to refer to Sherman tanks as "Tommy Cookers" because of their habit of bursting into flames when hit by anti-tank weapons. This wasbecause the engines ran on high-octane aviation fuel which was highly flammable (unlike Soviet tanks which ran on diesel and didn't burst into flames).

This didn't make me smile but did Mrs Collector. I've just had a new company car delivered and the number plate ends with the letters in this order WUH. So close! Four years I'll have this car

Having no change on me, so plucking out 6x £1 coins from a jar we have in the house.
Gets to work to realise each pound coin is a different design. I love **** like that.
Anyone care to work out the odds?!

' My , that's a big wad you have in your pocket , Dick ' - was it something along those lines ?richard99cook wrote:Compliments about my appearance (big health kick last 3 months) including one from the cashier at the bank I go to probably once or twice a month, puts a smile on my face

Probably not that high if someone was collecting the different designs and you've steamed into their collection, that happened to my brother in law......rare as rockinghorse shat wrote:Having no change on me, so plucking out 6x £1 coins from a jar we have in the house.

Re: Little things in life that make you smile
Well, there's what, about 10 different pound coins?
Maybe x million of each design in circulation.
The odds of picking out 6 and not getting a duplicate design must be pretty high?
I know it won't be millions/1 but still, this is my ENTIRE weekend that's depending on this remaining intresting!
