We've just had someone come into the bank I work for with a load of burned up notes, about 2 grands worth. He doesn't have a bank account but he sometimes pays his rent money into this particular branch so he thought he'd enquire within as to what he should do with the cash.

It turns out that to save his girlfriend from finding it and spending it he decided to hide it in his oven under a baking tray. He forget it was there and put some pasties in the oven for lunch.

I'm in awe of his retardation.

Is it true that so long as the note serial numbers are still visible it can be exchanged for non-roasted notes?

To a degree, yes. They have to be relatively intact and not turn to dust the moment you touch them though, unlike these. Honestly, he might as well have come in with a bag of ash.

That little circuit board is a fully-functional Raspberry Pi Zero. You can buy one for £4 (no, that is not a typo) or there's one attached to the cover of MagPi #40 for £5.99.
Dunno what I'm going to do with it yet, though...
