The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

No worries. Hope they are of some benefit. My advice would be to take them as a matter of due course anyway especially if stressed/down. A lot of evidence emerging on amino acid therapy and mental health. One in the morning and one in the evening as a routine. If on the p*ss, take a double dose before going out.

Staying on topic, I met with some people continuing trials on L-Theanine last week. Have recommended it before on here, but have now seen further clinical evidence on its efficacy. It is really good for anxiety and aiding sleep and relaxation. Doesn't work for everyone, but seems to work for a lot. CBD oil (now sold openly and stocked in H&B) has the same therapeutic qualities but is a bit more low level, although as we have seen is excellent for plenty of epileptic patients.

I'm going to stress myself out and try a CBD * l-Theanine interaction :P

Venk, I always take an omeprazole before I drink. Would taking this glutamine supplement cause either to be ineffective?

Us blokes huh? We are really sh*t at talking about this sort of thing, the ladies find it all a lot easier, either that or they are just braver. I dont really know.
I do know that NOT talking to someone (anyone) is definitely detrimental to your own well being and can lead to all sorts of issues down the line.

I urge anyone suffering from mental illness, loneliness, isolation ,depression, sadness, bereavement, any number of other things to open up about it, doesnt have to be on here.
It can be a great help and if you dont know where to go, the Samaritans is always a good place to start.
(TTS, sincere apologies, this isnt meant to be aimed at yourself, just take anything from it that you can).

Good luck and best of health to you all.

Crouching Peeky wrote:I'm sure I'm not alone in occasionally suffering from hangover blues, that horribly low feeling following a heavy session. Well I was out for several too many on Friday and when I woke up I felt unbelievably down and the self loathing was like nothing I've experienced before. This lasted right through until mid-morning today. As I said I have never gone through anything like as bad as that before as a result of a good drink and I'll be honest it's put me off the idea of having a drink again, although I'm sure that won't last.
I'm not someone who has a problem with drink I don't think, I'm a social drinker and I never drink at home. The only problem I think I have with it is too easily a social 3 turns into 8 or 9. I want to find the discipline or a way to pop out with my mates and have one or two and not be a social bore. I'm of a mind at the moment to just not put myself in the position and avoid pubs altogether for a period to try and detox my mind and body from the associations of alcohol.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has dealt with similar situations and if/how they overcame it?
I'm exactly the same, sometimes i can feel rubbish for 2/3 days after a binge drink, i never drink at home and only booze on some weekends or occasions (birthdays, hols etc). Summer is worse especially when weather is good. Best cure is to try and be pro active, get out the house otherwise i lie there all day and eat crap.

Tempted to drop booze all together for a couple of months but there is always an excuse to go out...... Football, boxing, wedding etc....

Soon as i'm two beers deep i know i'm staying out till the early hours, i simply cant resist as the saying goes 'the flavour'
