I think it will be 2-2 and Owen to score as he always seems to (Sears and Ljungberg for us)

-----------------------------Green----
Pantsil---Upson (if fit?)--Tomkins---McCartney (HOTY for me)
----------------------------Parker-----------------------------------
Faubert---------------------------------------------------Ljungberg
-----------------------------Solano
--------------Ashton (where was he yesterday?)--Sears

BTW I think Curbs needs to sort out the medical staff rather than his own tactics as it seems they are useless. I would give him until around next December and if there isn't an improvement in style of football and league position I would change manager.

Think we'll struggle, as always, against this mob. However I'm looking forward to the day out travelling with my fellow northerners.

I think they will do us on the counter attack with their pace, Neill will be centre back again as upson wont be fit most likely.

so you will have Neill getting forward too much and then out of position.

Pantsil can't defend really, better going forward!

Curbishley will start with cole and Zamora, at least the long ball crap might work with cole up there.

Think we'd be silly to put Upson and Tomkins up against Owen and Martins. I can hear the collective joy already, but I'd rather see Upson and Spector just for this one. If everyone who could be fit is...

..................................Green.....................................
Neill....................Upson....Spector..............McCartney
................................Mullins......................................
..........................Noble....Parker.................................
Faubert....................................................Sears..........
...............................Ashton........................................

Subs: Walker, Tomkins, Collison, Ljungberg, Zamora

Parker would have to help McCartney out a bit when defending, but I think that side would at least give them a game.

I thought Tomkins was brilliant last match, the amount of headers he won, sod it leave him in, spectors had enough chances

And done very well 80% of the time. I didn't think Tomkins was brilliant. He did pretty well and I'd give him a game against Villa, but if we play Upson and Tomkins against Newcastle, we'll end up defending far too deep. Spector gives you a bit more pace and I think he's the best defender on the ground we've got fit, which is where Newcastle aim to hit you. It would be a hell of a lesson for Tomkins to get turned inside out by international strikers, but one which would utlimately not be beneficial to the team just at the moment.

I think ther are 2 options to go for in this game.

4-4-2

---------------------------Green--------------------------

Neill-----------Tomkins-------Upson---------Macca

Faubert--------Parker--------Noble---------Ljungberg

---------------------Ashton------Zamora-----------------

Or you play them like for like with a 4-3-3 formation........

----------------------------Green---------------------------

Neill----------Tomkins---------Upson--------Macca

---------------------------Mullins--------------------------

------------------Parker-----------Noble----------------

Faubert--------------------------------------Ljungberg

------------------------Ashton----------------------------

Subs:
Sears/Cole
Zamora/Cole
Walker
Paintsil
Salano

What ever happens on Saturday we should get behind the team & try & make it in to a really intimidating atmosphere.....

I tend to agree with Scaloni about Tomkins and Upson partnership against Viduka, Martin and Owen. Think Neill might be a better bet that Spector though as I'm not convinced that Spector will deal with them any better than Tomkins.

For me Tomkins is great in the air but gets too tight when defending higher up the pitch. He got caught twice by Miller on Saturday when trying to knick the ball from the wrong side and also got caught by Yakubu in a similar manner for the goal against Everton Think he is going to be a good player and maybe with Upson along side him he can be talked through things a little better.

Line up for Saturday

Green
Pantsil
Mcartney
Neill
Upson
Faubert
Ljungberg
Noble
Parker
Ashton
Zamora

Subs: Walker, Tomkins, Solano, Sears, Cole

2-1 win to the good guys if Upson plays 2-2 if he doesn't
