Just hope we go for it and make it an exciting game. If we lose I'd rather we lost 3-4 than 0-1 yet again...
I'll be going for the first time since Sunderland away and half my family support Newcastle so it may not be important for you Curbs, but it is for me!

We will see.... a very good source tells me he wont be here next seasoncoxy wrote:

Our club wont move forward to him and his simple sidekick are gone...... maybe the risk of losing 10,000 season ticket holders when only having 800 waiting is enough for BG to take action. Mind after this year there probably aint going to be a waiting list at all.

MD_HM, I ask you this, when was the last time you saw a manager removed in pre-season?

Ranieri? O'Leary? Pearce? Billionnaires seem to like doing it based on that.

Its hard to be positive anymore.... used to really look forward to going over West Ham the 4 months its been painful to watch.Fionn Kiely wrote:The positivity on this thread is contagious.
Cant see anything other than a Newcastle Win tomorrow and by a few as well.....
Anyone know if Ashton is fit again? Should be him and sears upfront which might give us a chance but knowing the mentality of Curbs it will be Ashton and Cole, or Cole and Zamora
Coxy.... Plenty of managers go at the end of the season, its probably the best and most common time to change manager.... hence why there is a chance Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter, AC Milan and Chelsea will all be changing thir manager in the summer..... if they can why cant we?

MD_HM, you want to drop both our goalscorers from last weekend?
How many of those managers in the next pre-season will leave rather than get the boot do you think?

Re: West Ham v Newcastle : Match thread
I just really can't see it happening I'm afraid. Team selection is a tough one tomorrow as well, Ashton will be back MD_HM but do you drop the two who found the net last week? Personally for me Sears needs to be on the bench as he doesn't have the fitness that the Premier League demands yet and currently works better as an impact sub.

Zamora was awful despite scoring aginst Derby and Cole was in the right place at the right time, anyone would have put in that cross.westlondonhammer wrote:MD_HM, you want to drop both our goalscorers from last weekend?

We need to be looking at our future which means playing a) our best players and b) players likely to be involved next season ............ therefore its Ashton and Sears for me everytime, Ashton has been looking **** hot in recent games and sears needs exeperience but also looks the part..... Cole and Zamora both will probably be sold in the summer if not then defo one of them and both are average squad players.... we wont learn anything from them playing but the other two we want having games!

Isn't that one of the key skills as a striker????MD_HM wrote: Zamora was awful despite scoring aginst Derby and Cole was in the right place at the right time, anyone would have put in that cross.

I get what your saying about Sears but I think its unfair on him, better to start him and then take him off IMO.... no good bringing him on on 65 mins when we are 2-0 down, wont do any good!coxy wrote:I just really can't see it happening I'm afraid. I would play my best team available...
Green, Neill, Upson, Tomkins, McCartney, Solano, Noble, Parker, Ljungberg, Ashton and Sears
Bench: Walker, Ferdinand, Mullins, Faubert, Cole

Re: West Ham v Newcastle : Match thread
My suspicion after Saturday is he isn't ready to start regularly. Off the bench, he can make a real impact, but anything more is probably beyond him just at the moment. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing him start with Ashton, as long as nobody's expecting anything from him.MD_HM wrote: I get what your saying about Sears but I think its unfair on him, better to start him and then take him off IMO.... no good bringing him on on 65 mins when we are 2-0 down, wont do any good!

My team FWIW:
Green
Paintsil
Neill
Tomkins
McCartney
Faubert
Noble
Parker
Ljungberg
Ashton
Zamora
Subs: Walker, Sears, Cole, Mullins, Solano
Sears just looked so ineffective against Derby, I only remember him making one decent run and attempt on goal. When he comes off the bench he's able to influence the game more IMO. The boy needs bedding in first before he's given a run of games from the off. Take Zamora off after an hour if things aren't working and then pair Ashton with Sears, similar to what we did at Goodison Park

Re: West Ham v Newcastle : Match thread
Thats what I want to see him and Ashton as I think they have the potential to be great together.... Problem with him against Derby is he had to do it all himself as we were playing so poor.... Whats the point on bringing him on when we are losing as play a team full of people like Spector, Pantsil, Mullins, LBM, Cole and Zamora and we are going to get hammered!!!Scaloni Is The Messiah wrote: My suspicion after Saturday is he isn't ready to start regularly. I'd put Solano at right back and Mullins for Noble... otherwise I would agreecoxy wrote:My team FWIW:

Re: West Ham v Newcastle : Match thread
I think we're more likely to lose with him starting than with him coming off the bench. If he does start, I don't think it'll be because it's the most likely way for us to win. It'll only be if Curbs wants to see him start with Ashton. I don't think it will happen. He's getting great opportunities off the bench at the moment and I think it suits everyone for him to continue with that and see where he is after pre-season.MD_HM wrote: Thats what I want to see him and Ashton as I think they have the potential to be great together....
