This was him two days before the match....................can you imagine what he was like during the last 10 mins of the match. He just couldn't have survived. Poor big Russ it was a pleasure to be called a fellow poster :lol:Romford wrote: I was just thinking the same...

I've been a massive Hammers fan all my life but have never managed to go to a game.
I live about as far from Upton Park as is possible in England and my Dad hates football so never had a chance to go a s a kid....
Since reaching adult hood I work every Friday and Saturday night (doorman) so have never seen my beloved Hammers play.
SO EXCITED!! :raver:

That Palacios was easily the best non top 4 player I have seen at Upton Park since we got promoted again.
Online
Yet we watch 1 Premiership match from our own team & some are already doubting them, even Behrami in one thread

Got to agree with the comments on Palacios. He ran all over Parker and Noble in the second half. The Honduran would certainly beef up our midfield - what price, £10-£12 million? If Reo-Coker's a £6 million player he's twice that! At least we'd be able to cash in Mullins and Bowyer to someone in the Coca Colas for few hundred grand.
Re: West Ham Utd v Wigan Ath: match thread
Palacios was good alright but I certainly wouldn't be considering him one of the best players outside the top four yet, I'd say I could think of around 40 players better.

Palacios' arrival at Wigan back in January was one of the catalysts for their dramatically improved form.
Whilst that may not make him a world beater, he was outstanding yesterday against our midfield.... and unlike Elano and Petrov he delivered in the winter as well on that crappy Wigan pitch......

Between Jan 1 and Aug 15, Wigan were 9th place, in terms of form in Prem League matches.Palacios' arrival at Wigan back in January was one of the catalysts for their dramatically improved form.
We were 15th.

Wilson Palacios, along with his brothers (Milton, Jerry, Johnny and Edwin), started his career as a footballer with Club Deportivo Victoria, from which all five players were later transferred to Olimpia.
Hey maybe one of his BROTHERS is as good ~ would be cheap at half the price !!
Makes about as much sense as some on here !!

They were bottom 3 I think around Xmas...which really shows how much they raised their game.... He's an important player for them.prophet:marginal wrote: Between Jan 1 and Aug 15, Wigan were 9th place, in terms of form in Prem League matches.

Having trawled through most of the bollox on this thread  , it's interesting that whilst most people have acknowledged that Etherington faded second half, no-one has linked it to the report he was smoking outside a nightclub the other week. He was obviously not fit (not injured) and after a couple of runs second half was gasping for breath! I also think it contributed to us being overrun in midfield second half.
Neill is not a left back, not even as a stop gap. Davenport has surprisingly grown with each game and generally looked solid today, although it would be good to see him play it forward instead of continually passing back to Green. I really like the look of Behrami, that's the 2nd time I've seen him play and I think he could be a real star.
We did see some of the best passing moves second half, sadly that's the only positive thing I can think of other than LBM's fine tackle.
Still, that's 3 points more than Spurs, Everton, Portsmouth and Citeh, and two points more than ManUre all of whom finished above us last year :raver:
