I'd say Freddie on the left, but otherwise you've got it right IMO.

As Neill is captain I can't see him being dropped from the starting line up, but with our team as it is, i would probably name this side as my starting XI....

We could still have a couple of new faces, but that 1st line up looks good to me.

You know what cracks me up.....

We had a thread about getting a new left back over the summer and I stated I thought we needed one and suggested N'Zogbia or Shorey, I subsequently got slated with remarks about how McCartney is more than good enough and he should be the first name on the team sheet blah de blah.

Few weeks later we sign Behrami who none of us have really seen play at RB for WHUFC and immediately the majority of the people on here are picking him as 1st choice RB and moving Neill ( who was seriously poor last season ) over to LB.

Now correct me if i'm wrong but how good can McCartney be if he is being dislodged by a poor RB for his favoured LB slot?

Or is it a case of "oooh we have bought a new player, he must start!" and Neill being captain must therefore also start, so push Neill to RB and b*llocks to McCartney.

I used to think West ham had the best fans in the league, now im starting to think we have the most shallow ones. (not just from this incident but from a multitude of reasons I really CBA to go into now.)
Its no wonder the MAJOR feels the way he does.

I know a lot of PROPER fans will be feeeling the same way.

SAD state of affairs i'm afraid.

I think the reason george hasn't been included is because he is injured.

Starting line-up against City last year was...

Robert Green
Jonathan Spector
Anton Ferdinand
Matthew Upson
George McCartney
Fredrik Ljungberg
Lee Bowyer
Mark Noble
Luis Boa Morte
Bobby Zamora
Craig Bellamy

My Guess for Wigan this year

Robert Green
Lucash Neill
Anton Ferdinand
Matthew Upson
George McCartney
Fredrik Ljungberg
Scott Parker
Mark Noble
Luis Boa Morte
Dean Ashton
Craig Bellamy

So, given the team is nearly the same, I'm expecting a pretty similar result, too!

"Same old West Ham...."

Agree - except LBM instead of Ethers - LBM does well against Wigan.

Subs are where you'll see just how light we are:

Lastuvka, Davenport, Widdowson, Bowyer, Mullins, Sears, Etherington

Cole, Tomkins and Linda possibly injured? Ljungberg AWOL? Dyer, Gabbidon, Collins, Quashie etc still injured

Still, might be good enough to do the job COYI :crest:

Thought that was genuinely minor - he played against MLS. Has something happened?

I completely missed all things football yesterday and have come back to fractures and 18 million pound bids?

Based on current fitness prospects and assuming no further signings, I'd go with:

Green
Behrami, Ferdinand, Upson, Neill
Faubert, Parker, Noble, Etherington
Ashton, Bellamy

Subs: Lastuvka, Davenport, Widdowson, Mullins, Bowyer, Sears, Hines

McCartney, Ljungberg, Boa Morte are all unlikely to be 100%, but could make the bench.

That lineup should comfortably dispatch Wigan.

Green,
Behrami-Ferdinand-Upson-Neill
Faubert-Parker-Noble-Etherington
Ashton-Bellamy

Bench: Lastuvka, Gabbidon, Spector, Mullins, Bowyer, Sears, Cole.

I reckon Cole will be back. The bench looks really weak...I think that underlines the fact of needing a couple of new signings.

Curbishley seems to like Spector...probably because he plays him anywhere across the defence. If he's available, he'll probably be on the bench.
