West Ham Utd 1 Bolton 3 (05/10/08)

Post by bubbles1966 »

Start this one off:

Possible opposition line up

Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Samuel, Andy O'Brien, Cahill, Steinsson, McCann, Nolan, Muamba, Gardner, Davies, Elmander

Their form (last 6)

Man U a 0-2
Arsenal h 1-3
Fulham a 1-2
WBA h 0-0
Newcastle a 0-1
Stoke h 3-1

Also knocked out of carling Cup by Northampton

What usually Happens

A home loss or draw with Bolton is entirely as predictable as a win at Fulham (where we have not lost since 1966), a loss at Anfield or a home win against Blackburn.

What We need to do

They remain big and physical and our best headers / biggest players need to do their stuff. Cole is vital, and maybe we need Davenport for this one - he won't get done for pace by the likes of Davies. The midfield need to stand up to the battle. Fulham and Newcastle have been very different opposition and Zola will be confronted by different problems in this one.

Team Selection

For this game I'd like

Green
Neill, Davenport, Upson, Ilunga
Behrami, Noble, parker
Etherington, Bellamy
Cole

Subs: lastuvka, faubert, Mullins, Boa Morte, Di Michele, Tomkins

Superstitious Question

We always seem to do poorly in Sunday lunchtime matches? Anyone know whether that's true or not?

Massive game for us next week! (as will be Hull). Providing we can keep our cool and keep playing football I think we'll win. Bolton will shut up shop early on and we'll need to be patient to break them down.

Come on you irons!

I'd love to muller Noblot. They'll come and park the bus in front of goal like they always do away from home so I hope we'll be patient enough to break them down. I'd probably pick the same team as this week if possible and hope Upson deals well with the fouling pain in the arse that is Kevin Davies.

If they can they should keep the same team... I have a feeling Di Michele is going to be a much more effective player at home than he is away (I think its an Italian with Di in their name thing  )...

Getting our first back to back league win in over a year, it makes sense not to change a winning formula (I wonder how many times in the last year we have actually had the option of not changing the team... lucky zola  )

It would be great to continue this great start to the season and I would love to beat bolton

I see no reason to change a winning team! Hopefully Bellamy will be ok to come off the bench again. Really dont want him being rushed back (ala curbs) and then crocked.

Just booked tickets for me and the family.. cant wait.

Don't think Bellamy should be involved as some Bolton twat will whack into him and he'll be back on the injury list for the next year.

Still, we could see him with Ashton at last

Same team...........Bolton are always horrible to play against, they kept Manure at bay for a long time today before a "non penalty". Will not be easy. I know Kevin Davies will do something to hurt us he always does

Narrow victory probably.........

If we win it will be such a good start to the league. We've scored atleast 2 in all our home games so I don't think that will be a problem. We will concede our mandatory one goal, but I reckon we'll win 2 - 1.

If the Arse do not win at Sunderland on Saturday victory in this game will put us top of the Premier League for one and a half hours.

You should be okay if a bit tight if you do Piccadilly to South Ken and District out to UP. Barking-Upminster is shut again, and the Hammersmith and City isn't running on the eastern end.

will be tight game with Bolton coming to shut up shop - i think we can make a blinding start and be 2 or 3 up in the first 30 minutes

But can see Bolton scoring early in second half and making an uncomfortable last half hour - typical West Ham!
