Re: Manchester Utd v West Ham United: match thread
We've come on since the Bolton game although still lack the width i'd like to see...although he's trying to push the backs up but thats not easy when you've got Ronaldo and Walcott attacking you. I predict a win in Smogland (and a clean sheet)[/quote]
If you hadn't made your feelings about drugs abundantly clear, I would ask if you've been on the wacky-backy.
I wish I shared your optimism.

Re: Manchester Utd v West Ham United: match thread
Just back
Left our house at 10.15am yesterday and got to the ground at 7.45pm - 9½ hours driving, albeit with 45mins stop off for a fantastic pub lunch just off the M1.
Luckily I had stocked up with some beers in the car's fridge so we remained fairly calm en route travelling at an average of 13.2mph for the 246 mile journey. Someone needs to sort out the warning/congestion signs on those motorways
The match?
Collison was excellent
Ginger Pele has given ginger blokes a hero
Di Michele and Faubert need to find some energy from somewhere and possibly take a visit to Specsavers - their positioning was terrible.
Green was on the ball - literally.
Tevez was left with too much space but got the feeling he didn't really want to use it to his advantage...
We were a little poor in the first half but thought we came back well in the second half well - most 'un' West Ham.
A good game for us (I have not yet read any of the above in this thread so will now look at other opinions) and feel we have gained something a little extra compared to previous matches.
Support was great - lovely to see so many who were on the Toronto trip - especially Charlie who had come over from the USA for the match
Puts those who are from the UK and have never been to an away game, to shame...
What was with the "shoes off, if you support West Ham" chant? Silly but the kids loved it!!
Got some photos from the match which I will put up later.

Glad to hear you got back safe, good to see you at HT....i want to shoot the person in charge of those screens. They can tell you a truck stop 2 hours away is closed but not that the road ahead is mullered :evil:upton girlie wrote:Just back

if the second half was manure showing 'top form' i'm of to the bookies to bet on them not making top four now....huchammer91 wrote: Exactly we wernt great but against possibly the best side in the world hitting top form what did people expect? We held our own and didnt embarass ourselves so im not to disappointed. Also our support was top notch, the best atmosphere i've witnessed in a long time.

I was fuming on the way up, especially towards the end of the trip when it was fast becoming apparent I was gonna have to watch the match sober......

You need to purchase a beer fridge for the car - essential for these long painful journeys.delbert wrote:I was fuming on the way up, especially towards the end of the trip when it was fast becoming apparent I was gonna have to watch the match sober......
Although...we forgot the bottle opener and have now worked out that the seat belt clasp is a great alternative
Just added up that I have spent 15½ hours driving in the last 30 hours. ****ing ridiculous really...
Also just read quite a bit of this thread and realised that there are more plonkers on this site than I thought 2 days ago with some of the doom and gloom opinions. I know what match I watched - some of you must have been ****ing between your 'dear John' messages on your dating sites and the live match stream...

Unfortunately I threw myself upon the mercies of the official coaches, not only do they get all talibanese over the delights of drinking but also manage to arrive so fuckin late it's a biological impossibility to get even mildly intoxicated before kick off....upton girlie wrote: You need to purchase a beer fridge for the car - essential for these long painful journeys.

If it was any other team I'd be a lot more sensible about the whole game but because of who it was I lose all sense of perspective....

Re: Manchester Utd v West Ham United: match thread
It was job done for them in the second half so they sat back a bit, they'd have soon ramped it up a notch if we'd scored early doors in second half.
We scored early up there a few seasons ago and all it seemed to do was upset them.......

Just watched MOTD from last night and it doesn't show anything...how they could miss out the Evra challenge on Behrami is a joke.

Paul Walsh[never a big fan of us] on Sky Sports last night said the Evra challenge on another day the ref may have shown a red card.
I watched MOD on Sunday night after the Arsenal game waiting to see the penalty incidents as I was at the other end of the ground and didn't see them clearly, I'm still waiting!

Its was a lunge and deserved a red...also no showing of how Vidic dealt with Ginge at our corners :evil:beckton wrote:Paul Walsh[never a big fan of us] on Sky Sports last night said the Evra challenge on another day the ref may have shown a red card.

As for the pens Sunday...I still don't know the score with any of them same as you. If that had happened at OT though you can bet that one would be given

Far too many Curbs lovers on here IMO. :lol:Romford wrote:The Joy of KUMB
Everyone who is going all doom and gloom really need to get their heads sorted. Last season in a similar position at Liverpool, we went onto the pitch with only one thing in mind, Surrender.

I'm glad that peope who actually went to the match think we did well. From the stream I watched it looked like they were relaxed and we couldn't take advantage of that. I'd prefer to be wrong in this case.

From my position in the BMU, the shove on Bellamy was a clear penbeckton wrote: I watched MOD on Sunday night after the Arsenal game waiting to see the penalty incidents as I was at the other end of the ground and didn't see them clearly, I'm still waiting!

(and if it had been a shove on Adebayor at the Emirates, it'd been given)

Just got back from Old Trafford!
Just wanted to post that Jack Collison had an outstanding second half. Didn't give the ball away once. Great to see young Freddie get half an hour also - loved him 'megging Vidic!
Oi Franco! Give 'm both a start at Boro. Parker and Jack in front of the back four. Freddie in for the Italian - I'm afraid DDM offered nothing - again. And I tried to forget, but Bowyer had a 'mare.
We'll do the Red c**** back at our place in February.
Want to see us win at Anfield. Anyone out there old enough to remember?

Not as good as the 1986 FA Cup Fifth Round. Or the Di Canio match.
But nah, just been grafting away from home.
Are you still gonna question my selection in the middle of the park, Degsy?
