Our away form has been so good we thought if we stay quiet that the lads would think they were playing away and perform better. :raver:
Re: Gianfranco Zola baffled by silent Upton Park
I thought it sounded like a Real Madrid game watching on TV. Dead and mumbling background noise. Alan Smith said he couldn't believe how quiet it was and then on cue the ground started with a loud chorus of ' f*** off Craig Bellamy'. He was right though, and mentioned the stick he used to get from the chicken run when it was closer to the pitch.

True enough - the sound of 42,000 fans simultaneously ripping open a packet of Prawn Sandwiches can be quite deafening.Chelsea Fan wrote:The trouble is, he was spoilt for years by the support at Chelsea :raver:

I think the fans were just a bit nervous because they were wondering how we would do without bellamy there - i think thats why were maybe even more loud than usual once our nerves had been settled once we were 2-1 up.

Re: Gianfranco Zola baffled by silent Upton Park
The CL corner by the Doc Martins stand did ok, though perhaps to much about Bellamy. To be honest for the time of day and opposition I thought the atmosphere was not bad.
Loads of tourists behind the goal it seemed, several spent a lot of the time looking round at the crowd and taking pictures. One annoying little **** behind me who jabbered away all first half, including asking who's Craig Bellamy and what has he done wrong only in annoying imitation gangster speak. Luckily he seemed to take the hint for the second half and shut up.

I think one of the reasons our away form has been so good is because our Travelling fans sing non-stop. Did you not hear them against Chelsea, completely out-sung the home crowd.
We could do with a bit more of that at home.

Re: Gianfranco Zola baffled by silent Upton Park
Early kick off are rarely noisy. I could hear the players shouting yesterday.
Zola would be better off stating he is not keen on early kick off as it subdues the crowd.
He's obviously forgot how quite it is/was at stamdford bridge.

13:30ko = not enough time to get up, get to the pub, have a couple of liveners, and get to the ground.
You're not going to sing when you're hungover and you've got a mouth like a baboons bum are you?

Was at the game yesterday ..and I too thought it was quite to start with.
Livened up after Di Michele scored ..but was completely silenced by Konc's goal.
Was better in second half.
I was also at the Fulham away game earlier in the season and at the game was thinking how our support was far better at the 'Cottage'.......and tend to agree we get behind the team far better away from home.

Sicknote, what is it with your constant pop at the fans?
Usual Sunday mid day kick off issue, I thought it was ok once we scored the second
BTW what the f*** are we doing playing Fulham at 1.30 on a Sunday anyway?

That'll be Sky's hijacking of the Premiership. Started in the early 90'sOzza wrote:

Man City at home will be another good one 12:30pm Kick Off, not enough time to get out of bed!

But that will be offset by Bellamy's return to Upton Park...Pop Robson wrote:Man City at home will be another good one 12:30pm Kick Off, not enough time to get out of bed!

Indeed, but there's a limit to how much he'll be able to influence the result, as an unused sub.Gator_Hammer wrote: But that will be offset by Bellamy's return to Upton Park...

Interesting post from King Olaf on the Jeremy Nicholas topic heading...
It can't be undermined how rubbish the new announcer is...! A London derby, whatever the kick off time, is a London derby, lots of ex-'ammers to welcome back and the announcer sounded like he was reading out the train timetable!

Re: West Ham Utd v Fulham: match thread
I'm obviously on my own here but I didn't think the crowd were that bad to be honest all things considered. One geezer in the CL provided us with countless laughs. to whoever he was.
