No post match interview ??

Or does Gnome (or whomever) have to wait until he gets home, deciphers what he wrote as he forgot to turn on the tape recorder, and then as his writing was mainly ineligible, just make it up anyway ??

(You need to equip him with a bluetooth Boss so he can use BOTH hands to write with. Oh, and a pencil sharpener too..)

A good first day result. We shouldn't get carried away though as Wolves will struggle for sure this season. I've got them pencilled in for about 17th this season with Burnley, Birmingham and Hull all fighting for the same spot. That said, three points will do nicely, and should set Zola and the team up well ahead of the visit of the Spuds next Sunday.

Would still like to see at least one if not two out and out strikers (EidurG, LucaT, ChamakhM, etc) added to the squad in the next fortnight and a recognised right back. Better left wings than we saw today will take us apart there. IMO, Spector plays better as a centre half or defensive midfielder, and Faubert is far better going forward than defending, although clearly has learnt a thing or two whilst warming the bench at Real Madrid. So if Lucas doesn't accept the £35k a week on offer (half his previous deal) then we should move for a replacement. Come on Nani, Dux and Zola do the business and we could have a good season ahead of us.

Europe has to be the target this term.

I think it was something to do with a German commentator in the week forgetting CCs first name and calling him Colin

Only being able to watch a internet stream I would just like to say that against a better team, one or two of those chances could have cost us dearly.

Green maybe just shaded Faubert for MoTM due to the saves coming at crucial times. I am really not fond of the narrow field, every has to play to close together in the midfield and early on Noble wasn't getting wide enough to help Faubert, but it seemed later in the game that he tracked closer to Faubert and the Dogheads weren't as dangerous as in the beginning.

Faubert looked good going forward and better when he got help. Upson solid thought Ginge was a little off the pace, especially evident when that through ball caught him out and Ewbank nearly scored. Ilunga excellent game, unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Noble was pretty good, but not his best position out wide. Collison seemed a bit quiet and should have put that chance away. Dyer seemed very quiet, Jimenez made some great runs off the ball which Faubert seemed to pick up on. Parker seemed not his usually dominant self and still could have scored. Cole was immense and followed up on his England performance. Shame he was mostly a passenger after the second goal, would have preferably seen him rested for a bit, earlier than the 92 minute. Might cost us in the next few games..The stream went out quite a bit during which Stanislas came on so I couldn't get a real good feel for how he played, Spector was a nightmare when he came on.

Just my 25 cents worth....

Thought he looked really good today and we looked a lot ore vulnerable when he went off and Specs came on. Specs gave the ball away three times in first five mins on the pitch.

He (Gnome) will be getting home shortly - I have not long dropped him off at the station after our long journey back. However - the post match interviews are for the home games, not away ones.

Our post match chat involved twiglets, flies, hot dogs, jumping frogs and Albuquerque. Faubert and Nouble (the big fella) were mentioned too. HTH

just got back, good game, feeling confident now, with the hope of 1/2 forwards coming in i think we will have a good season.
never want to go to wolverhampton again, especially after leaving the ground and trying to stop a group of 10 or so lads kicking the **** out of one poor lad on the floor! scum

Just downloading them, whilst feeding the dog and the kid (*note to self - must not mix up the meals...)

Here are 3 of Ilungas injury in the mean time - he didn't look good :(

1. Just been hit...

Image

2. Totally stunned - he got up after this photo and then collapses down again. His eyes were weird and he was really not with it at all.

Image

3. The others got concerned and Ilunga vomits some of the claret...

I'll put some more up in a little while - go see if you are allowed to stay up a little later tonight west ham15

I like how Faubert rushed over to speak French to Ilunga when he was hurt. He seems to be fitting in with the team really well at the moment. It's also good that he is starting to fit in at right back and I think he will look even better with Behrami in front of him.

Who was it that said a while ago that Faubert would be our starting right back this season?

Also, isn't it nice that we had two rare occasions in our first game of the season. A goal scored from outside the box and a goal scored from a corner!!!

Plenty of positives from this game, but we still look shakey in certain areas (I am looking at you ginger) and a little light weight in options (a striker would be a welcome addition).
