ohhhhhhhhh yes! Good first game, looks like Zola and Clarke got them peaking at the right time, looking forward to seeing the team even tighter next week. Good to see the boys got a bit of time at the end to knock the ball around a bit, all helps in the long run!

What a cracking start. Clean sheet thanks to a fantastic English goalkeeper and two goals from two fantastic English players. Just what the doctor ordered.
Nice one Gianfranco, a couple more players and we are all set for a positive season.

Cracking game with two really good goals. Faubert's performance was a step up from his previous games however he still has a long way to go,Robert Green was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch though he thoroughly deserved the clean sheet.

Good luck ...

Green - great saves
Faubert - world class crossing (not so world class defensively but it's his first game)
Upson - rock solid and a goal
Dyer - great link up play, didn't stop running
Noble - terrier, goal of the season contender
Cole - world class hold up play, constantly troubled the defence

I dunno!
Wait, what???

Good strong performance by us today.

Cole was very strong up top on his own.

Noble had a good game, which was good to see. I just hope he can carry that kind of form on throughout the season.

None of the starting XI really put a foot wrong, apart from one mistake by Collins.

Spector showed that he's a liability when he came on, though, which proves he should be nowhere near our RB slot.

Some of Faubert's crosses were sublime. He must love opening day fixtures, as he was pretty handy against the Wigs last season if I remember correctly. Let's hope he isn't a one game per season wonder!

I think I'd have to agree

Sometimes I think Cole has the fist touch of a brick wall, other times he looks like was put on the earth to bring manna down from the sky, such is his ability to bring the ball down and get it under his control.

Faubert I was impressed with, even defensively did a lot of good work.

Wasn't impressed with how many chances they were able to get, but I couldn't really see it clearly from the stream so I don't really know the reason for that.

I know.

He's in contention for our RB slot though, right?

Seemed sound enough, but I can't help wondering exactly how good Wolves are.

Never the less its not easy to be away to one of the more than up for it newly promoted clubs first game, and to come away with three points is a result in itself however good Wolves are - It was one of those games that can so easily go all wrong.

Wheel on the scum next Sunday and we'll see.......

Didn't see the game, just listened on BBCLondon and they didn't seem to like Jimenez...always pointing out his mistakes.

So how did he actually get on? Did he provide the corner for Matty's goal??

Green - Top class today, dealt well with everything, flapped at one cross but that was it. 9/10.

Faubert - Looked decent going forward but shaky defensively, sure with more games there he'll get better though. 7/10.
Collins - Decent, could have done better with distribution but some scrappy moments caused for the big boot. 7/10.
Upson - Rock at the back and a goal to boot. 8/10.
Ilunga - Standard Ilunga performance, dealt well with everything and bursted forward a fair bit, hope he aint too badly hurt. 7/10.

Noble - Brilliant, top passing and a lovely goal. 9/10.
Parker - Not a bad game, could have closed down that player with the decent left foot for them more but did okay otherwise. 7/10.
Collison - Should have scored but fairly anomynous, did alright. 6/10.
Dyer - Caused them some problems with his pace, decent game. 7/10.

Jiminez - Probably take more time to adapt but did well, few cheeky little touches, should have done better with goal oppurtunity. 7/10.

Cole - Brilliant, caused there defence no end of problems. He is a real asset for us, I bet defenders hate playing against him, should have had a goal too. 9/10.

Player Ratings

Post by Big_Russ »

I thought I would start this thread so that people who have seen the game either on TV or live can put down the ratings for the players.

The main reason I want this up here is I like to see how everyone has done and I trust and respect you lots opinions a 100% more than I do the papers.

Feel free to add your own opinions as I feel a mix gives people who didnt see the game a fair idea of how everyone played:

Green-Outstanding shot stopping, messed up one cross but bar that  8
Faubert-Touch rusty defensively (mainly positioning) but looked pacey, fit and whipped in some oustanding crosses. 7
Upson-Superb defensively and scored...what more can you ask for! 8
Collins-My chump of the match i'm afraid, got turned inside out by both Keogh and Ebanks-Blake on a coupkle of occasions. 5
Illunga-Fantastic going forward and nearly scored from a header, solid defensively before going off injured. 8
Noble-Awesome goal, excellent workrate and assured passing throughout  8
Parker-Good defensively, broke play up well and got forward a couple of times dangerously as well. 7
Collison-Quietly efficient thruoghout, rounded the keeper well but should really of scored. 7
Dyer-Ran his socks off, intelligent accurate passing and dangerous on the break 7
Jimenez-Made some excellent runs and through balls, tooke players away to alllow Noble to score. 7
Cole-Colin was inspirational today, strong, quick, intelligent runs and astronomical improovements to his touch. A goal would have given him a perfect score! 9 and MOM.
