Post by Matt of iron »

Thought I'd start this with my 100% record for match threads and we need all the help we can get....

Must win this game.

We have to play 442 diamond and we need to get further forward. I'm not saying it will solve all our problems but I think it will counter opposition attacks better and enable us to get support for Cole.

It has been said so many times but this 433 formation is getting on my tits. It didn't work last year, it isn't working this year. Lets stop pretending Jiminez and Diamanti are strikers (they don't play like they are - they are too deep and wide) and play Hines up front with Cole. Hopefully Upson is back fit (Gabbs in for Upson if he isn't) and im assuming Behrami and Jack aren't fit but otherwise I would alternate Noble for one of them.

442

---------------------Green----------------
Faubert--Tomkins--Upson--Ilunga
-------------------Parker-----------------
Diamanti--------------------------Noble
------------------Jiminez------------------
--------------Cole----------Hines--------
Even the 4222 (basically a 442) is a better option with our players. Noble and Parker alternating coming forward - with Noble switching for Behrami or Collison when fit.

---------------------Green----------------
Faubert--Tomkins--Upson--Ilunga
-----------Noble------Parker--------
Diamanti-----------------------Jiminez
---------------Cole------Hines-----------

Absafuckenlootley!
Mark Noble - YOU are the weakest link, goodbye! (if Behrami or Collison are fit) :raver: :crest:

I know Pleat is a tosser but his report on Fulham's tactics in their last game v L'Arse gives a sensible analysis. No doubt they will play the same against us at the Boleyn.
They are a very solid 4-4-2, but they struggle to score goals. So 1-1 it is.

I'll give it a try in my local bar - I have already taught 5 locals to sing (sort of) the first two lines of 'Bubbles', although the word bubbles comes out more like boobies.

That 'It isn't working Zola' thread should do the trick!

Seriously though, all for a bit more positivity. Last night was a depessing, but pretty inevitable result. Fulham on the other hand is potentially a real 'season starts here' game that we really need to win!

Yes Dieter, it sort of contradicts itself , however even though Zola's formation in my opinion isn't working I will still get behind him and the team if he plays the same formation come Sunday

Fair play

To be honest I trust Zola's judgement ahead of mine and will back whichever team/system he picks, but must admit I'll be a bit confused if he picks Kovac if anyone remotely suitable is available instead in his position!

Except in a relegation season (02/03) or in seasons where we are nearly relegated (06/07) :|

4-4-2. Assuming Upson is back, and the squad is otherwise as last night, I'd go for:

Green
Faubert, Tomkins, Upson, Ilunga
Jimenez, Noble, Parker, Stanislas
Hines, Cole

Subs: Kurucz, da Costa, Spector, Diamanti, Kovac, Nouble, Franco.

In the event that Behrami or Collison are fit, them in for Noble and Noble replacing Kovac on the bench.
