Zola needs to wake up to the situation. He did last year in November and we went on a great run but I think November will be too late.

And the Icelandic Mafia needs to wake up too. Valuations of £100M isn't going to bring in new investors or buyers. It's exactly the same as Toon last season with Ashley wanting £200M. People just laugh it off.

The other thing is, we've brought in the likes of diamanti et al yet Sunderland bring in Zendon on a free who was out of contract. OK, be getting on but can still play. How did we miss that. I thought it was Nani's job to spot these things?
Now I know you are taking the piss....... :eh:
Well who else have we got that can play a 'proper' full back's role ?
Spector seemed to do OK there for the USA in the summer.

playing a 'hot headed' Frenchie who get's beat in the air, dives in, get's caught out of position regularly .....can't cross a ball .....and rarely uses his so called 'TGV' pace to get to the byline.....is allowing our opponents to take the piss !

Replacing one waste of space with another is not the answer.... Spector (like faubert) is an accident waiting to happen in the PL.

IMVHO of course....

The only thing that can really save us now is a takeover and decent cash injection in Jan...this current squad hasn't quite got enough to survive

Stating the bleeding obvious i know.

Sure am glad Zola decided not to play Jimenez. The midfield we played today was so one dimensional it was scary.

Lot of knee jerk reactions on the game and it is quite obvious the team are not getting any breaks at the moment. Overall the performance was reasonable, we were the better side and had far greater possession, playing much the better football than Stoke who really are a Blackburn style side.

Summary of the game:
Stoke opened better and managed to create half chances using long ball tactics.
The move for the penalty was very good, but having seen it at least a dozen times now, it is clear that etherington went down as soon as he reached the box. There is no suggestion of any contact from Faubert.
As the first half wore on, we managed to get ahold of the ball and start to create chances. Excellent goal from Upson from a good Noble corner.
At half time the shot count was 4 to 7 in our favour. with 53% possession.
From the off in the second half we dominated possession. Stoke scored from a counter attack and some bad defending by Upson to let Fuller get around him. Faubert should have beaten Beattie to the ball as well, although was arguably fouled by him.
Huth should have been sent off for the haymaker to Upsons already stitched eye wound. I cannot see how the FA will ignore it.
Diamanti, Collison, Behrami stood out. Fuller and Shawcross for Stoke. Tomkins looked naive. Referee was very poor.

Hines, Stanislaus and Franco all came on but with little time to change anything. Hines had longer and again looked useful. It was typical of our luck that we got a free kick on the D, 2 minutes after Diamanti went off.

Good performance with no end result. Stoke are a poor team with loads of effort and no class. We have a good bit of class, plenty of effort but no end product.

Its getting there, but we should be getting points from these types of games.

I tried everything today; wore my lucky underpants, turned off the radio, swore to give up alcohol if we equalised and was even civil to the wife (at least for the last half hour) . Downing second pint as I write this but it looks like X factor followed my a desparate attempt to find some soft porn rather than watch Match of the Day tonight. Somebody post a joke to help cheer us up pleeeeese

Haven't we already had a year to 'get there' Ben?

One point from Fulham and Stoke must be a major worry. And once again, no goals from open play.

This 'we played well' card is becoming a little worn ... it's goals we need.
