Ilunga - I think he was on the bench v Stoke. didnt hear the bench called out, but I think I saw him warming up.
Stanislas - If Dyer is fit, have Dyer ahead of Stanislas.

Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Surely we're due a bit of a change of luck against Everton? We've played quite well against them in recent games. That 3-1 home game from last season still haunts my nightmares.
Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Yeah, away last year we started well, then Tomkins is sent off and they are given a penalty, both wrong decisions and it was pretty much game over.
Season before we drew with Sears hitting the post in the last minute.

Its a ground I have never been to but I'm looking forward to going there and seeing at least one or two of our under performing, lazy, so called professional footballers showing some interest in trying to keep us in the premiership

We played quite well against them at home and scored. We've got too watch Mungo Jerry though, he's a bit of a handful.

Two Mungo Jerrys, there's only two Mungo Jerrys...
For our younger Hammers.

That was down to the ref, he let the bird's nest get away with loads of little fouls & niggles, just like Bolton & Kevin Davies did at home this season.speculator wrote:We played quite well against them at home and scored. We've got too watch Mungo Jerry though, he's a bit of a handful.

Been to looking forward to this for a while. Everton is one ground I haven't visited before so I plan to have a great day, regardless.

Proper football ground but a bit of a **** hole . Foods awful - don't touch the scouse pie - basically vomit with pastry on top .Billydinho wrote:Been to looking forward to this for a while. Everton is one ground I haven't visited before so I plan to have a great day, regardless.

Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I agree with this. Right winger on the right wing. "Left" winger on the left wing. Combative midfield that should make it tight for them if it performs. Noble to try and offer the creative outlet. Centre halves at centre half. RB at right back. Left back at LB.westhamrobw wrote:-------------------------------Green--------------------------------

At least he seems to have a spine unlike some of the others.Mido said: 'Everton are a very good team, but we're definitely going to go there to get at least a point. We're going to work hard. It didn't work for us on Saturday, but I hope that it will work for us next week.'

I like your thinking!
On paper, this looks like the worst game possible. Away to the form team of the league, when we are on a shocking run.
So rather than focussing on all the likely negatives, how about a few positives?
Football is a "funny old game". How typical would it be to get something from a game like this having crumbled against weaker sides
We will be away from home, and given the pressure cooker atmosphere at The Boleyn that might not be a bad thing
Carlton is slowly getting back to fitness. Hopefully he'll be firing on all cylinders by sunday
Our defence had at least a semblance of organisation against Stoke (their goal apart). Stick with the same back 4 and try to play solid.
We looked a lot more cohesive with no Kovac in our midfield. Hopefully the management have seen that. He's a very handy player to have on the bench, and that's where I'd pick him to start. Only bring him on if we have something to hang on to (in a Christian Dailly kind of way)
I'd go 4-5-1, in something similar to the "diamond" formation (ie a narrow midfield 4, and a player between them & the lone striker).
Parker & Noble quite deep. Parker bursting forward if we are on the break, Noble drifting forwards if we have possession up their end, otherwise defensive first and foremost
