Everton 2 West Ham Utd 2 (04/04/10)

Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
The midfield was the key area today we had all four of them working both forwards and at the back, doing simple passes, none of this stand up the other end and leave the right/left back exposed. Thought Noble was quality, Parker as always, Kovac added the bite and Stanislas to run at people(you need that option in the midfield)

now that I've calmed down a bit - Spector. He cost us the two goals today. He is utterly useless. Stick Daprela in.

Proudest i've been of this lot in months. This will be the Tottenham 4-3 of this reason. Chuffed. Now, going about my leo and getting ****ing mangled...
Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I really think i would've cried if Everton scored a 3rd.
We played brilliant in the second half. I wonder if we did better becuase Diamanti wasn't there shooting all over the shop? He would've scored the penalty though. Ah i'm buzzing

Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
At last a result
West Ham fans very loud. Great support. The Wigan Fulham game was on TV over here too, you could have counted the Wigan fans on one hand!
Parker was immense. Noble well out of position but did well enough, his chip onto the bar showed excellent invention. Kovac woke up, finally. Faubert's cross has to be the cross of the season leading to our goal of the season. Cole did brilliantly upfront, on his own again. Perhaps with DaCosta we now have a center back to partner Upson to the end of the season. But Zola has to dump that lump of lard Mido! McCarthy unfit, Ilan ... bring back Nouble of he has to, all are better than Mido.
All the results have gone our way this weekend. Let's hope for the same commitment next week as we showed the second half this.

Great result, heads all up for first time in ages.
Now, bearing in mind this is WHU, odds on continuing that next week against Sunderland?
Thought Stanislas brought some speed, drive and badly needed width even if he has plenty of scope to improve. Better on the right than the left.
I'd persist with him.

Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
However big an assumption it may be to make, I think the fans were the main inspiration today. I heard "we are West Ham's claret and blue army' non-stop in the second half until we equalised, and it was pretty much non-stop singing throughout the match in fact. Last week against Stoke the fans were superb as well, particularly the "West Ham til' I die" after they scored.
We can really play our part. We don't really deserve to stay up but we can still do it, but only if we're all behind the team.
Come on you Irons!

It was the sort out of Emmerdale ! I dont watch it though , the wife said it looked like her
Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
9 corners and that on the road !!, that means to me that finally we challenged the flanks, i can't even remeber the last match we played when we got 9 corners. Yeah i know, two soft goals, but rightfooted Spector and Noble on the left and both Everton goals came from the right iirc.If only.... wrote:Great result, heads all up for first time in ages.

Unbelievable support..Couldn't hear the Scallies singing at all except when they were ahead. Our lot were deafening...
Well supported lads... Hope you had a great weekend....
Mido = *****...should have come off sooner...
Jonny Specs = why oh why
Upson = lost his man for the 1st goal (he's been directly responsible for 3 goals in 3 games, cancel the flight Mr. C)
Da Costa = played really well, only 2nd game in 4 months...expect to see Da Costa and Tomkins as our centre half pairing next season
Stanislas = not brilliant but what a great through ball for Colin who was not the sharpest today
Noble = way out of touch on the left hand side but great corner for the goal
Green = nowt to do except pick the ball out of the net (yet again)
Faubert = solid display
Parker = did he break his hand chinning Mido
Kovac = hit and miss 2 great tackles back to back for the run with Junior when we should have scored
Cole = 1 bit of great run and 2 missed opportunities & 3 unnecessary offside calls..
Ilan = Brasilian striker (me )
Fonzie = sub should have come sooner Mido was gash at that point
Away support =

Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I know that this may not be the popular opinion, but I thought that we were all the better for not having Diamanti. Whilst he's probably the most skillful player in the squad, he's not a battler, and right now, we need those who are willing to roll their sleeves up and fight. Saying that, he'd probably have slotted away the penalty, but you can't keep a player in the team purely because he's good at dead-ball situations, at least not if you've as limited a team as we've had of late.

I agree totally about Spector, he tries but his errors cost us dearly again today. I'm happy with a point at Everton, especially as our record against them is terrible but my god, what three points could have done for us today eh!travisbickle wrote:now that I've calmed down a bit - Spector. Good shout in my mind, the squad is too limited and we need more 'parkers' than we do 'dead-ball specialists', would he have actually scored the penalty?
players who will give the blood & guts and not just fanny around waiting to do a bit of trickery
