Maybe he's a deep lying left back after all?
Surely he just fell over in front of the ball?

I know these are only friendlies but the squad seem to all be in good spirits and are playing as a team which is totally different to the time under the Italian Norman Wisdom.

I thought playing 4-3-3 would open up our defence alot more. But fair play to Avram he has got the team defending very well, 1 goal conceded in three without Upson and possibly a new (better) RB playing is very promising. I think we need to cut out the rash challenges on the edge of the area because we seem to be giving away a lot of free kicks, but we have 3 weeks till the season, i'm sure that'll be sorted.

Although it's only pre-season, it does give us some kind of indication of what we can expect and at the moment it's looking promising. Plus we still have a few things being done in the market! Roll on MK Dons!

Good Result.
Good start by Avram Grant to life at West Ham.
We are obviously playing quite well and this hopefully will do wonders for our confidence.
3 down 3 to go.

Glad Hitz scored, only a matter of time I suppose. He is quality, a fantastics coup by G&S to get him in IMHO.

Well done, although take these wins with a pinch of salt, just as we should if we had lost.

From the main page

West Ham Utd 1 Panathinaikos 0

Filed: Friday, 23rd July 2010
By: Staff Writer
A solitary first half goal from new boy Thomas Hitzlsperger secured a third successive pre-season victory for Avram Grant's Hammers.

In the midst of a torrential downpour here in Austria, Der Hammer's early strike was
enough to defeat a strong Greek side here in Kitzbuhel.

Join us later when we'll bring you exclusive pictures and more details from the game.

Still cannot understand the lack of publicity on these last two friendly games.....BBC.co.uk have got our game against Burton tomorrow listed but this evenings game......nothing.
Still, good to see Chelseas defeat against Ajax splattered across Sky Sports News every so often :D

I was never worried about the formation as Grant knows how to use it.

Sounds like we are playing well as a unit and the winning habit will give us a good base to build on for the 1st game.

Hitzlsperger sounds like he has hit it off already, really pleased we have him, going to be great to watch him, can't wait to see him live

I'm more than happy for our preseason to be behind the scenes. The only people that need to know are the players and Grant, and us ideally!

That said, I'm well excited about going to the MK Dons game. Parker, Piquionne, Barrera, Upson, Green, Behrami all set to feature

Sounds like the jinx from Mars, but what the hell....

....The contrast between this pre-season and the last is enormous.

Only pre-season, but I'm very pleased with how things have been going so far. Lets hope this positivity continues after our tough opening run of games.
Is it me is Der Hammer looking like he could be a new favorite?

I know it's only pre-season but got to say i'm delighted how it's all going at the mo... we are getting some impressive results and putting in some very good performances.

I think Hitz is going to be a very big player for us next season and could turn out to be one of the bargains of the summer!
