just got back....it was pretty dire boys.

thought da costa was head and shoulders above the rest...no.1 defender in my book.
barrera showed glimpses of what he can do and you can see he has pace and directness which is what we need.
Piquonne was pretty woeful.
Good to see gabbidon back and one can only hope he returns to somehwere near his best.

Kovac i think we should keep. diamanti we can do without.

No, but at least Kovac has played Champions League and International football. Which is a decent pedigree.

Unlike the Serie B Man.

Kovac, if he stays, will be a handy squad player this season. Good to see him captaining the side this evening

Just got back.. a pretty boring game. Pablo looked decent but final ball was a bit ****. Diamanti looks as one footed as ever. Can't see Nouble as a striker. Sears looked alright for the few minutes he graced the pitch.

Just read some of the other posts on here...Apart from one or two I can't see many of tonights squad being first team starters.

Positives
Stech
Kovac
Daprella
Barera
Da Costa

Poor
Piquione

The rest were average @ best, the highlight of the evening was Diamantis row with Grant quite amusing and both subbed
straight after, and also the kids giving it large and running along the back of the stand

Just got back, would rather have watched Eastenders to be honest - it was an awful game.
Looked good 1st half, 2nd half was all Southend really apart from a few corners.
Kovac looked ok, Da Costa looked class, Edgar showed some neat stuff, other than that pretty mediocre all round.
Daprela looks like he has bulked up a lot since last season.

Highlight for me was when we scored and we celebrated like it was the FA Cup final, Southend fans looked at us like we were nuts! All in all, not sure what use this game was in terms of Grant finding out about his fringe players.

Just got in thought we were average but looked good at times, very much a second string 11 though. Good turnout away end was rammed, plenty of west ham fans in the home end which the Southend lot didn't like, they really have a chip on their shoulder about us though treated it like a cup final!

No where near what our first team will look like, lets just hope after the performance of Piq and Caraglio, we realise we are ****ed, if Cole gets injured. A decent quality youngish forward should be priority.

Edit: Just seen highlights and Piq had a couple of good efforts.

Yes. Almost exclusively.

It just stood out to me tonight when he was in a perfect position to cross on his right on two occasions (everyone knew he wouldn't) then he spooned it with his left over by the corner flag. It annoys me because I have seen him use his right foot on a few occasions with decent results. Took his goal well though.

It's weird how it's largely left footed players who get labelled one footed. Very similar to he "has a great left foot."
