Cole wasn't great on Saturday , but other pre season games I've seen him in he has been good .

The basic issue is a lack of competition for places in key positions .

Goalkeeper - nobody to put pressure on Green
Centre Forward - nobody to put pressure on Cole - perhaps Piquionne ?
Central defence - Upson will always start despite being a contract rebel
Right back - Avrams trying Tomkins, but will start with Faubert
Left back - Ilunga will start , under no pressure from anyone .

So bsaically, half the team still picks itself regardless of form .

Parker commands his place , and I suspect both Hitz , and Barerra will as well .

So 8 places from 11 are certainties every week . The other 17 players in the 25 are fighting for 3 places .

Upson has a Deportivo shirt on inside out when he went up to get it. We never got to see it from the East Stand because as soon as he lifted it they buggered off down the tunnel.

From what I saw on the Big Screen it looked like a £2.50 job from Wilkinsons

despite being our best striker by a country mile,cole can be lazy.i watched him closely sat 2nd half and although a friendly he often looked tired and disinterested.he seems like he has a stamina problem to me? and this was noticeable last season at end of games even before he was injured v burnley.
