Stoke City 1 West Ham Utd 1 (18/09/10)

Post by osborner69 »

Lets give one of these a bash, dont think I have ever done one before.........im feeling optimistic we can get off of zero for this one!

For me, has got to be:

---------------------------Green---------------
Jacobsen --- Ben Haim ----Upson -----Illunga

----------Noble--------Parker--------Hitz-----------

---------------Dyer-------------Obinna---------
-------------------------Cole-------------------------

Would love a point at a tricky away tie, but we owe these mugs from last season (Huth breaking Upson's nose from memory)
Anything like today (20 mins onwards) we are more than capable of 3 points.

You would still have Green in goal ? I still expect him to be there with Upson too, but what have we to lose by being a bit braver and putting young Stech in with Da Costa in the back four ? I think that already looks a bit stronger

Put in our quickest possible players, hit them on the break and we can do it.

Can any of you explain your reasoning for still sticking with Robert Green ? Is it that you are afraid that whoever comes in might f*** up ?

Cech made a mistake today that led to a goal, so I think Chelsea should drop him...

.........................Green..................

Jacobsen Ben Haim Upson Ilunga

............Behrami Parker Hitz.........

.............Dyer Cole Obinna.............

Bench: Stech, Reid, Tomkins, Faubert, Noble, Barrera, Piq

I dont think Da Costa will be included again for some bizzare reason. I think Tal had a decent game today apart from being outjumped by Essien for the 3rd goal, i think he and Upson need to develop a partnership. I hope Hitz is back if not then Noble should step in. Behrami was ok today, not great but it's either him or Kovac. Dyer and Obinna both deserve starts after there performances today and Barrera should be used as an impact sub.
We need to take point/s from this and i think we will. I think they'll struggle to get past our defence and well dominate. My prediction would be 1 or 2 nil to the Hammers :D ever the optimist...

You all know we will start the game slowly yet again and invite Stoke onto us until they score and once they do, well, we are left chasing the game, yet again. Have no idea why it is we always start matches, every match on the back foot. So I expect us to conceed our customary 3 goals, yet again especially if Robert Green is in goal and Matthew Upson is in the centre of our defence

We've got a good chance with this one. Won't be the end of the world if we don't win, but they're beatable.

Yeah thats a good idea, we've scored only 2 goals in 4 games and have looked absolutely cluless up front so lets pick Carlton Cole again! If we want to get our season of and running then we have to send Carlton to the bench where he quite frankly deserves to be! I know its harsh on Green but after that mistake I think its vital he doesn't play in this game. You could say this would knock his confidence but I think it has already been shot to pieces. I think the best thing we could do is let him leave in January to another side abroad (Which is what he wanted to do in the first place!) and let him build up his reputation again. Look at Paul Robinson for example. He was exactly like Green a few years ago, he left the Spurs for Blackburn and built up his reputation again and is back to his old self.

The team has to be:-

-----------------------------------Stech--------------------------------

----Jacobsen-----Gabbidon-----Upson-----Illunga----

--------------------Dyer--------Parker--------Hitz-----------------

-----------------------Barrera-------------Obinna-------------------

---------------------------------Piquionne----------------------------

Subs:- Green, Da Costa, Ben Haim, Cole, Boa Morte, Noble, Faubert.

Lets really take it to them, and I believe we can get something there!

i feel the same about this game as I did the twilight years of my own playing days where youngsters playing on the wing were coming through and showing some positive signs and they came up against a fairly average full back and you're just thinking - 'do him'. Start with same back five (to start building understanding), Dyer, Cole and Obinna and then bring on Barrera early in the second half. Would prob keep Behrami on and ask him to stay withing a foot of etherington first half until we are at least five goals to the good.

if we're bold think we'll win this one (and I wasn't one of the 100's that seemed to have a good feeling in their bones about turning over chelski  )

yep anyone would think we'd just lost to blackpool and west brom, not manchester united and chelsea, and putting a new untried keeper in at stoke just shows how little people know about management, avram grant may well not be there but he isn't that stupid
