West Ham Utd 2 West Bromwich Albion 2 (10/11/10)
West Brom were in tremendous form until 10 days ago - I really expected us to lose this one - but things seem to be turning against them a little.
They were always a bit of a jinx team for us too, historically.
I'd take a draw now (we will beat Blackpool on Saturday).

Im afraid i dont see anthting apart from a resounding loss look at the game against Blackpool on moday they only had 10 men for most of the game and they were the better team and even when they had 9 men they could have won it. It was one of the most heoric performances i have ever seen pride, passsion and they can pass and play.

Re: West Ham United v West Bromwich Albion
They are as poor defensively as us,and half their first choice defence is suspended for the game - so we'll score.
It's a question of will we score enough.

We will beat them under the Upton Park floodlights.
This could well be the game, like Villa at home last season (also a midweek night game), where it all clicks into place.

Must win game, not an easy game by any stretch, but we owe someone a good beating and we have a good opportunity with some of their key players missing for this match. Was really disappointed we threw it away against Brum yesterday; in the end a draw was better than nothing. No such compromise with this; 3 or 4 - 0 and we put this one to bed.

A draw isn't good enough.
Got to maintain defensive concentration and nick it one-nil.
Victor to break his league duck.

They're very busy - but can't handle Balotelli down the middle.beckton wrote:Two nil down at home to Man City at half-time.
An on-form Cole would wreak havoc while Obinna against Nicky Shorey should be the mismatch of the year if Obinna engages his brain.
Have to say that Mulumbu looks good and bloody Paul Scharner will probably score - always seems to against us....
Re: West Ham United v West Bromwich Albion : match thread
Someone is due an absolute spanking from us - and I really think this could be it.
West Brom are a good team that are playing well, but I just feel like our players must be so fed up of losing and drawing they're going to turn them over.
We'll probably then lose to Blackpool... but never mind that.
4-0.

this should be in the football cliches thread.Roby wrote:We will beat them under the Upton Park floodlights.
.
Floodlights make no difference to us.
Re: West Ham United v West Bromwich Albion : match thread
I dont no about that i still remember not exactly but around 10-12 years ago we were 3 down against Southampton and Niel Shipperly got a hatrick the fllod lights failed the match was abandend and we one the reply. So yep the flood lights do make a difference especially when they are off.

Mulumbu sent off for West Brom.
Good news that, he's one of their influencial midfielders. That'll help us in winning the midfield battle which is a must for a win against the Baggies.
They also have Olsson and Jara out of the midweek game. That's three of their best defensive players, the fans are worrying on the WBA Form. They're there for the taking on Wednesday.

.......Piq.................Cole.............Obinna
Bench: Stech, Ilunga, Tomkins, Kovac, Dyer, Barrera, McCarthy
3-1 Irons (Cole, Obinna, Piq)
Tempted to stick Dyer in from the start but i think the front 3 done a great job yesterday and deserve another crack, they may have just started to click.

Re: West Ham United v West Bromwich Albion : match thread
I think Grant will pick that exact team Indie if Da Costa has recovered from his slight knock I would like to see us try 4-4-2 below Obinna on the bench for me with him and Barrera we will have fresh legs speed merchants to run at their tired defence in the 2nd half. but Grant will be usual cautious 4-5-1. Think we will nick this 2-1 or 1-1 draw I can't decide yet.

I don't think that's the case.Hammer83 wrote: but Grant will be usual cautious 4-5-1.
I don't think Grant is a cautious manager i think he likes to blend 4-5-1 with 4-3-3 but it just hadn't come off, until yesterday.
Last season Zola tried 4-3-3 but he just couldn't master it, the midfielders never helped out the striker and Cole was always left up top on his own.
Avram was very brave yesterday in going with the 3 strikers up top because it hadn't work all season and it was risky for an away game. But it paid off and the 3 finally got some cohesion going. The strikers got back and defended well and the midfielders got right up with the attacking play, this shows with Behrami scoring and Boa getting an assist. It's also why Noble has got a couple of assists from open play this season and Parker has scored 4.
The team is becoming alot more organised, apart form at set peices. And i think we'll start seeing much more fluent 4-3-3 attacking performances from us now on, rather than the whole midfield behind the ball.

If you were going to be cautious you wouldn't play Cole, Piquionne and Obinna in a 4-5-1.

A must win game to be sure.
I would like to see Dyer start. Barrera as an option is always decent.

An easy 2-0 win with opportunities to make it more.

Re: West Ham United v West Bromwich Albion : match thread
agree with previous posters, I think this could be the game that we finally give someone a tonking. Half their back line is missing. Hopefully the fans will be tanked and and provide a decent atmosphere. Team wise I would stick with the team that played Saturday.
