West Ham Utd 1 Manchester City 3 (11/12/10)
I can't see one so thought i'd give it a go at starting one for the first time.
After the loss at Sunderland i think that will make it a bit easier for Avram to make a few changes to the starting line-up, even though we lost 1-0 im still pretty optimistic about this match, also i've just seen on Sky Sports that Tevez will be suspended for this one and seeing that he has scored in seven Premier League games for City this season and they have won them all, it can only be a good thing for us (hopefully)
Not sure if Jacobsen is injured as he didnt play yesterday, if so i'd go for a very similar set up apart from Piquionne in for Cole
------------------------Obinna-----------Piquionne-----------------------------
Boa Morte-------Spector------------Parker------------Dyer
Gabbidon-------Upson------------Tomkins----------Ben Haim (if no Jacobsen)
-----------------------------------Green----------------------------------------------

Us nil is a certainty. Probably the best defence in the league in my eyes.Matt of iron wrote:There to good for us.

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
As long as Spector plays in the center we'll always have a chance
Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
Have a feeling we might nick this 1-0, if we show the same spirit as against the other Mancs:
Green
Faubert
Tomkins
Upson
Ben Haim
Barrera
Parker
Spector
Obinna
Hines
Piquionne
Subs: Cole, Dyer, Stanislas, Jacobsen, Kovac, LBM, GK

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
Big, huge ? against Dyer for me. Not only did he look decidedly unfit yesterday, he also looked a little bit pony too. Also, can't see what the useless Boa Morte brings to the team either, apart from hold the ball up to bring others into play. Think I would bring Stanis las back, unless he's out injured again. Other than that, your other 9 places are pretty much nailed on, I'd saymascherano wrote:I can't see one so thought i'd give it a go at starting one for the first time.

If Jacobsens fit, play him and Faubert on bench. Not sure about Behrami, he is VERY good when he plays well and has been lately. I think him over Spector to be honest.
If the game's not going that well, don't wait till the 70th minute. Give them a rollocking and tell the underperformers they have 15 minuted or they get subbed.

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
On the plus side, they've got two suspensions. Incredibly, they have not won a league match without Tevez scoring since January. Quite a hoodoo for us to no doubt help them with.
On the not so plus side, they've got the deepest squad in the whole league.
The only way to even salvage some pride will be to be in their faces all match. If we try to play the beautiful game, they will dismantle us for fun.

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
Mancini is not the sort of Manager to go chasing a 2-0 win when 1-0 would do .
His starting point is to try and ensure the opposition get nil .As others have mentioned , they have a mean defence, but the price they pay for it is a relatively limited attack ( despite having an embarassment of riches in the squad ) , so for me , we need a channel runner, someone who will sweat all afternoon for the team , try and get a corner or a throw in a dangerous position , and try and sneak a goal from a set piece .Alternatively , play with 2 holding midfielders and try and nick a goal on the break .

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
Would agree Albie's team if Behrami is fit - but I can't see us getting much from this.
They'll be far too strong physically for our boys in midfield.
(If Jac's out I'd try Faubert)

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
One question, why are so many people suggesting Foxbat as a LB or RB ???
I think Albie has hit the nail on the head and if Behrami isn't fit then Foxbat on the wing with Stanislas to cover from the bench if Faubert isn't working

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
Because there is no one else.
Faubert is the only remotely decent (I know that's not universally accepted  ) full back at the club in Jacobsen's absence.
Gabbs and TBH do sterling work in unfamiliar positions but don't offer any progressive play - while Spector and Ilunga aren't up to it on any consistent basis - besides Spector is better than Messi.

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester City: match thread
Tevez and Kolarov both suspended for the trip to the Boleyn.
I fly in on Friday morning, off to Upton Park for the 2nd time in my life on Saturday. Hoping for a better result than my first time, the 3-1 home loss to Bolton in 2008. Hopefully I'll see a committed effort from West Ham, Man City will be tough defensively but if we fight for everything then who knows? Man City have struggled on the road vs teams like us to take all 3 points.
Also, help needed with which pub/s to go to beforehand, thanks!
