I feel irrationally optimistic about this weekend and reckon we'll take a point either 0-0 or 1-1

I feel like that most weeks, but it's gradually dawning on me that my optimism is misplaced.

I dont think all the results will go against us this weekend, cant see Blackburn winning and i can see Everton picking up something at the DW. Even if we go down it's not like all the teams around us are going to pick up maximum points anyway. However IF all the results go against us this weekend, the only bad thing will be the sight of the table, it will mean nothing in terms of us surviving aslong as we take care of our own games, each team in the battle expects to win their home games and we must win ours aswell. After this weekend, Blackburn have Utd at home, Wigan have us and Blackpool have Bolton, nothing is a gimmie.

It's in our hands. We could send Wigan and Blackburn down if we turn up. It's going to the final day.

We need to get at them from the off, only problem is we can't keep possession of the ball. Even if we do manage to string 3 passes together, it won't be long before we either give it away, or somebody will misplace a pass, or it will go it touch, or somebody will lose it under pressure and it will be a while before we see it again, so, as usual, it will be us under pressure. If they go in front early on, expect us to be in for a very uncomfortable afternoon.

Before Spurs away, many people were saying that it was going to come down to the last three matches. I was hoping for three against Villa, but as for the other five of our last six, I was hoping for a point or two. We got our point away at Spurs, but unfortunately weren't able to get anything in the last five. This is only slightly worse than most of us were expecting, yet we're treating it as if it's the end of the world now that we're here. We should be saying the same thing we were saying before Spurs, a point at City would be great, but in the end, it's the last three that count.

Can't see us gaining any points from this shift, like last week I'm hoping that we keep the score down as goal average may well be crucial and hoping that Wolves, Blackpool, Wigan, Blackburn pick up as little as possible, preferably nothing.

The last three games are winnable if we put in decent shifts, if we do then we'll deserve to stay up, if not....................

The filth will be wanting us to win this one as much as we will be :arry:

Games like this are just annoying, and one reason why I don't care if we are relegated or not.

The top teams have more money. They can buy better players. So they beat us easily. Us and teams like us can only ever hope for 'reasonable degrees' of 'success' - never getting into the top 5/6.

It's the PREMIER LEAGUE way, and it's really, really boring now.

Honestly we aren't often beat easily, sometimes we're tonked for sure, but often we give a good account of ourselves. You don't support a "winning" team, it's alright though.

We have played well away from home (Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton ) so lets not be so f***ing pesimistic .....A bit of hard graft and belief by the team will get us something ....come on you irons...
My earlier contributions to this thread suggest that we're earning results against the lower placed sides despite not playing to what I believe is the best of our potential. Nothing but a positive, IMHO.

p.s. Dynamo Kiev put us out of Europe.

The absence of Bridge, Parker and Noble is a pain in the ass.

We have no specialist left-back, and it is almost certain that we will end up starting Boa Morte or Kovac.

We have no midfield, so no way of repelling their attacks, so therefore, no hope

I'll play devil's advocate here given how depressing this thread is becoming. For everyone saying this could be the weekend that sinks us, it could just as easily be the one that springs us back into life. The past two weeks none of the other bottom 5 have won either - think there's an excellent chance of that continuing for a third week. None of them have gimmes today. And we'll play after the other results are in, against a Man City side that by and large doesn't hand out thrashings and has often struggled both with expectation/momentum and also with finishing off the weaker sides. They have an FA Cup final coming up, and Chelsea will probably have beaten Spurs the previous day to ease their path to the CL places. Are their crew of millionaires going to be bringing their A game against the bottom side if that happens? We play with the same intensity as we did against Chelsea, sneak a winner in the 75th minute and finish the weekend out of the relegation places with the easiest run-in of the bottom 5. Suddenly all the funeral preparations seem a bit silly. Gravy.

Probably not, but as long as they turn up with a pulse it'll be enough to send us home with nothing.
