Re: Doncaster Rovers vs West Ham United: match thread
We seemed to be under the kosh, but in retrospect, Doncaster had one exceptional chance, and that was the header which almost grazed the post.
We will not win every away game in a sexy manner. In fact, we will probably win no away games in that manner. Shame we didnt hold out for a draw on Sunday, and we would be sitting pretty on 4.
Watford away will be another decent test. But another result would be fantastic.
Im pleased with today's win.

3 points, away win, clean sheet, Nolan gets off the mark... Good day
Only thing that we all know already is that we need a decent forward... Carew might be strong and experienced enough but Cole and Piq seem **** so far...

Will do a lot of good confidence wise, but we need that flair player and somebody to bang in a good majority of the other 79 goalsjjwred7 wrote:
lol...Good point Miami...I hadnt thought of it like that...lol It has been a long long time!!!
BFS says we need. First away goal and win, clean sheet, onwards and upwards. COYI. More beer needed now.

In these early stages, we just need to get as many points on the board as possible, by hook or by crook.
I have a sneaking suspicion that we won't get into full flow until January at the earliest.

A win is a win, we all knew it was not going to be a picnic but with the squad we have and the manager we have we should be positive.

Hopefully you'll get bored of this soon. Sam plays one central striker nearly all the time.BeastieBoy wrote:
We are going to throw away half a dozen leads if we can't play 4-4-2, and that could be make or break. Instead BFS wants to play 4-5-1 and attempt to win every game 1-0. Now I wouldn't mind winning every game 1-0 but it ain't gonna happen.
We have the creative ability in the midfield to supply balls to two front men. We should be scoring goals left right and centre. Almost half the managers in the Premier League would start Carlton Cole if they had him today. Instead we start an England striker on the bleedin' bench in The Championship.
Stick 5 in midfield and it sometimes ends up that they have no freedom to create. You don't score. You defend from the front and you end up with some idiot right-back falling over his walking stick and gifting teams a goal.
A win is a win, I know. However, it isn't going to be plain sailing all season if we start with one up front every game.
11,344 there today. Surely the lowest league attendance we play in front of this season.
The whole point of getting Nolan was to play him off a single striker. That's why he gets so many goals.
And we dont have the players for 4-4-2. Especially in midfield. Noble, Nolan too lacking in mobility, Collison cant do 90 yet... So only Parker can play there, and whoever we played next to him we'd get swamped.

Really? You were listening to a differnt game to me then.DICAN10 wrote:ZZZZzzzzzz from what i heard it was all doncaster in the second half. its not the score its the fact the like the guy posted before 1 shot on target apparently, do we do anything with the ball up front?
The score really does matter you kow.
1 shot on target, 1-0 win, 3 points - I'm happy with that
last week we had 4 shots on target, 9 off target and didn't score - your point is?

It was for Kanoute away at Leeds a few years back. A real limp-wristed lady slap, still got sent off.Mr P wrote:So a slap or hand in the face isn't a red card? The things you learn...

f***. Someone should tell Allardyce. He was hoping to do a months worth of training sessions and then put his feet up until the final day's fixture was finished.DICAN10 wrote:i'm happy that we won don't get me wrong but judging by last week and this week there a lot of work still to do if we want to go up
