Re: Doncaster Rovers vs West Ham United: match thread
Illunga made another howler in the first half but had a steady second half and saved a certain goal for them with a vital interception. Just glad to have three points, a clean sheet and an away win before Christmas!

I know we need to be patient but I really hope our midfield will play to their ability. There seemed far too many gaps at times. I would say our midfield has to be one of the best in the league but have looked very static at times.

Re: Doncaster Rovers vs West Ham United: match thread
On paper our midfield looks good but the reality is there absolutely no pace there at all,
Ideally if we are playing 5 in midfield you should have two widemen that are pacey and direct
We don't have even one in the team and it's going to cause us problems as most teams in this league
Have alot of quick and mobile players in their teams, we are only two games in and we will without doubt
Improve, even if we stuck with the same midfield as they are quality players and we will be very hard to beat but
To add a little more offensively and stretch teams more we need at least one pacey wideman or a Bellamy type striker
To play in a front three!

Re: Doncaster Rovers vs West Ham United: match thread
An away win.
Lets not get too snotty about how we played- we kept a clean sheet, and the opposition didn't, consequently we bagged 3 points, they didn't .
I think our last away win was possibly Blackpool back in February ,so as a minimum Sam knows the players won't have the " they haven't won away since time began" monkey on their backs.Doncaster Rovers was a pressure game - the whole world would be looking for us to slip up - headline writers at the ready ,so not to succumb to that was a positive .
Having said that , I'm with Pop - it was a crap game .The 9 on the minibus were made up of a number of long serving ST holders - loads of miles and thousands of matches between them .Not many of them too happy with our efforts or shape up front yesterday .We got more excitement watching one of the lads almost slipping into a diabetic coma on the way home, but realising he hadn't paid his slice of the bus fare we brought him round with 10 mars bars and a full fat coke .With all the CCTV these days we didn't want to risk just taking the cash out of his pocket as he lay dying , as the risk of being you tubed was obvious .Get well soon Grays Hammer and TAKE SOME BLOODY EXERCISE .
But, an away win is priceless .String a few of those together and you'll be at the right end of the table come May - and that is the objective .
Doncaster wasn't that grim , at least their shops had windows .

**** performance but a win. If we play like that against better opposition we'll come unstuck though.

Not the prettiest 3 pts, still its an away win, Onwards to Vicarage rd via Moon Under Water Watford high st and another away win will do nicely to set up the Leeeds Game.

In the first half, they kicked the ball into touch so often, I thought they were playing for line-outs.

Was this not one half of Sam's plan to get us back up? Getting away wins by any means necessary. The other half was attempting to play a bit of football at home and still take 3 points. So he's half way there at least

Re: Doncaster Rovers vs West Ham United: match thread
Just got back. Not from the match, but from a night of steamy hot eroticism at my new boss's place. Boy, does she bang !! Stoke City fan, so had to keep the Hammer's end up ! and I would say, on the night, gave as good as I received.
As regards our match, great result, haven't seen any of the action, but a 1-0 win away from home, is well wicked. Rather a dull, uninspiring 1-0 win than a Johnny Lyall, lovely football, shame about the result, but hey, didn't we knock it about nicely though in our 4-3 reverse ?
* PS* Great news about Piq going soon, but I could have told BFS that, without playing him for two matches

Does anyone have a rough estimate of our numbers there? BBC says that the total was 11300 but there seemed to be a lot of Hammers there.
