Watched the highlights of Middlesborough and Ipswich last night. I dont think our game is going to be a waltz in the park. They looked a class above Middlesborough. Hope I'm wrong but this could be our first defeat. We need Faye to out muscle Scotland. There weakness looked at the back.

There is just ONE objective this season and that is to get automatic promotion. Sam is responsible with getting us back in the Premier League (Where we belong!!!!).

If we win with a boring 1-0 then that is fine.

Formation and tactics, who gives a F**K so long as we get 3 points and get into that top 2.

Let's be absolutely honest, who on here wants us to play fancy dan football (the beautiful game) and stay in this poxy division?

The first 10 games of the season are vital to that promotion. Sam has done his homework on this and he knows what he is doing.

Get into the top slot after Palarse and we will be bloody hard to shift. Ferguson knows that as well. That is why he battles so hard at the BEGINNING of the season. It puts the pressure on all the other teams and eases the pressure on our own players.

Trust in Sam.

I think the game against Middlesbrough took more out of Ipswich than it did for us against Peterborough, plus our much better squad which if Sam makes the most of should result in us getting the win.

Hope he employs the same tactics as Peterborough did when they beat them 7-1 :D

we'll win the game 1-0 with a scrappy goal, we'll defend for the rest of the match playing a 4-5-1 and we'll let baldock sit on the bench all game! COYI :crest:

I can suffer that 38 more times this season if I'm honest.

From what I've seen and heard, Ipswich looked good at 'Boro and are tough to break down.

I'd like to see us really attack them, with the goal threat almost nil.

Baldock, Carew and Bentley in for Faubert, Cole and Lansbury.

For me:

Green

O'Brien
Reid
Faye/Tomkins (don't mind who)
McCartney

Bentley
Noble/Papa
Lansbury
Nolan
Taylor

Cole

Wouldn't change many, but think Bentley deserves a place in the starting XI. I also think that most of our midfield are un-droppable.
Can't see Lansbury or Taylor getting dropped, they are too valueable in our squad and the same with Nolan, and I do expect him to play every game this season, bar injuries and I think he'll even play in the FA cup matches. As with Noble. Cole up top for me although would be tempted to start Carew as in my opinion, he did more than Carlton yesterday.

Sam likes a settled side, he won't tinker much. Faye had a good game against Posh, I'll think he'll keep his place.

Yes, I will be posting a 4-4-2 formation at every home game until it eventually happens, and we lose, then i'll stop...

Green
Demel/O'Brien (heard O'Brien might be injured) Reid Faye McCartney
Bentley Nolan Diop/Noble (depending on international clearance, and whether Sam trusts Noble to play more defensive) Taylor (if fit)
Cole Baldock

c'mon you irons!

If we continue to play like we have been away from home, we should take all 3 points.

We have been **** for years... we need stability, we need to build a strong squad and starting from the back is obviously the starting point. Playing attractive attacking football has its weak points, mainly the gaps it leaves when moving up the pitch. And i hate to say it but that is where we would probably get slaughtered (like we have done previously). Im happy for Big Sam to build a strong squad that can actually defend and see off games. We are in september for ****'s sake and on a whole doing quite well. But i guarantee by the end of the season we will be a more complete team capable of providing good football while also being very solid at the back, i really cannot see why people have already started to whine. Just give it some time, I have been impressed with 2-3 of our away games but what the majority of ppl have seen are the crap games we have played at home (unfortunate, but we got 3pts in the last one). If we can still play **** and come away with the 3 pts, what is wrong with that! That's what all the top teams can do! I don't expect that to stay the same week in week out. We can only get better!

I`m expecting a very hard game as ipswich seem to have improved a fair bit in their last 2 games in which they never conceded. They certainly have players who can cause us alot of problems and their confidence seems to have gone up a notch.

Going on sams comments post posh game,i would imagine Taylor & O`brien will be left out for this one.Dont sound like Demel will be available either.Again Sam has to decide if we play our usual 451(or 433 has he calls it ) or will he opt for a 442 ?

My team would be :

..................green........................

..faubert......reid.......faye.......linda
..bentley,,,lansbury...noble...collison
.....................nolan........................

.....................cole............................

subs: boffin,carew,diop,baldock,tomkins.

Not too sure on Faubert at RB, but if there's noone else available - he'll do.

Faye should keep his place, and Reid because I'm not sure on Tompkins' fitness.

Carew gets a start because I'd like to see what he can do in a decent run out. Same for Baldock really. Why not?
