He probably will. It's all about him on a football pitch which is the reason Fergie was happy to sell him. Watch him, he bombs around the pitch, head down often running down blind alleys, never looking up to spot a colleague in a better scoring position than himself and will take the shot on. Having said all that, he is still 100 times better than anything we haveOzzHammer wrote:Tevez hatrick

Re: West Ham United V Blackpool Match Thread.
Watch Phillips get a goal for them .
With Henri Lansbury certain to feature in the U21 matches, Sam may just have the excuse he needs to rotate him out of the team without upsetting the player or his club .For my money , I think Sam will give Papa another run out as a DM , and we all know Nolan is a definite starter .Baldock is more likely to feature off the bench later on when the opposition start getting leggy , so I reckon we may see a 4-1-4-1 again with Nolan supporting the lone striker , which hopefully will be Cole . I don't know if we will see Jack Collison anytime soon , and I'm assuming Taylor will be back .
----------------------------------------Almunia---------------------------------------
Demel --------------------------Faye---Tomkins----------------McCartney
-----------------------------------------Diop-------------------------------------------
Faubert----------------Nolan------------------Noble---------------------Taylor
-----------------------------------------Cole--------------------------------------------
Bench : Boffin, Carew, Baldock, Reid, Bentley .
Baldock and Carew to come on for Noble and Cole , moving to a 4-4-2 if it's all square after an hour .If we're winning, I doubt he will change it .
West Ham to win 2-1 .

Agree, Pinky. Althought I have a sneaky feeling he'll start Baldock on the right over Faubert. Try and create a more fluid system.
As I've said previously though, I'd try and get Bentley involved from a more central position....the only way that could happen would be to leave Nolan out, and I don't think that's really a solution to anything.

Re: West Ham United V Blackpool Match Thread.
If we line up as you suggest Pinks, be prepared to get absolutely over run by their Midfield, like a few other Games this Season, Noble will be exposed with Diop 10 Yards behind him & Nolan supporting Cole like you suggest..
They'll go with Ferguson & Southern holding in a central position with Shelvey in front of them supporting i'd guess KP, with Taylor Fletcher on the Right but coming inside & Carl Sutherland on the Left who'll do the same..

Going to the game and looking forward to it. Although, I really can't call this one.
Blackpool have only won one game away on the opening day but they have picked up points through drawing games so will be hard to beat. We are, as you know, not playing so great at home. I think they will fancy their chances at Upton Park and maybe that could be a blessing in disguise for us. Holloways team will attack and that will give obviously give us more opportunities to do the same. What am I saying, I'm just typing as the thoughts come into my head!!
Ok. Open game, lot's of goals, at least two penalties and the woodwork will be hit six times.
3-2 West Ham :raver:

Re: West Ham United V Blackpool Match Thread.
Just to mix it a bit why not try 352 and play with two wing backs;
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxAlmuniaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxTomkinsxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxFaye
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxDiopxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
FaubertxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTaylor
NoblexxxxxxxxxxNolanxxxxxxxxxxxCollison
xxxxxxxxBaldockxxxxxxxxxCarewxxxxxx
It won't happen but I see this as a very positive formation just as long as Taylor and Faubert can track back!451 aint working at home.

What the SBOBET Player of the Month??!!
A good debut but from what I've seen he's been at best average since.

Why didn't we take a punt on Phillips instead of Carew

Because we would then have him and Baldock on the bench most weeks......thick-soup wrote:Why didn't we take a punt on Phillips instead of Carew

Almunia
Demel Faye Tomkins McCartney
Bentley Noble Lansbury Taylor
Nolan
Baldock
Gives us the opportunity to go 433. We are at home and should not be having to worry about them. I am sure a front 3 of Bentley, Baldock & Taylor (if fit) is more than capable.
Failing that, stick Collison on the left side of a diamond.
However, I have a feeling that SA will try and nullify Ferguson and with that in mind will probably play Diop instead of Noble.
