Re: West Ham United vs Leicester City Match Thread
Flying over for my first game in two years, can't wait :raver:
Quick question: I'm bringing a mate and his 15-year-old son, and I wonder if the kid will be allowed in the Wakefield? If not, any suggestions on where to head for a pre-match drink?

The return of Konchesky. Been playing well by all accounts and getting forwards on the over lap down the left like he used to with Ethers. Was a blinding shot he hit against us wasn't it. Will need to keep him pegged back.

Think we'll edge this for a home win, short week to prepare though.

A thrilling 3-2 home win with Diouf netting the winner and being covered in a shower of spit when celebrating in front of the BMU

For clarification, you turn right out of the station. Then walk down and it's on your left hand side...claretcloggy wrote:black lion pub in plaistow..when you walk out of plaistow tube station cross the street and walk on the left side for a minute..then you'll see it. love that pub, really good place to have a pre and post match drink mate

This will sound pedantic but surely we played Leicester between 93-04? only asked as there was a big gap left from the opening post I am fairly sure they were in the prem for a fair amount of that time as were we?

Re: West Ham United vs Leicester City Match Thread
Got to be the best time to play them surelt - no manager, low in confidence, stuck in mid table not sure whether they're going to get any higher. Amazing to think everyone thought they'd be the team to beat - and in fairness on paper they should be.
Will the Northerner go 4-4-2? This certainly doesn't seem the sort of game to go 4-5-1, play defensive and look to nick one on the break. More of the same from Blackpool please.

We did, about 10 times in the Premeirship between 97-2002. I assume the OP stats refer only to 2nd tier results...Hammer83 wrote:This will sound pedantic but surely we played Leicester between 93-04? only asked as there was a big gap left from the opening post I am fairly sure they were in the prem for a fair amount of that time as were we?

Re: West Ham United vs Leicester City Match Thread
So how much extra can Leicester produce "To impress the new manager".?.....Have they all being playing at half pace for some reason?
There are no statistics I can find to show that results improve immediately after a managerial change.
Its just a cliche, gentlemen..

I'll bet he knows the team already, subject to the injury situation remaining the same.
Baldock for Collison..only change..

Re: West Ham United vs Leicester City Match Thread
Hard to select a line up for this one.
Hopefully Tomkins, Taylor and Cole are back, with the latter i would have thought starting the game on the bench.
We really should go 4-4-2 with Baldock and Carew up front and i'd be suprised if we didn't.
Taylor and Faubert out wide with Nolan in the middle, but who partners him? Noble or Diop? Extremely harsh to drop Noble but in Diop is a player that simply cant be replaced for what he brings to the side.
Hopefully we'll see the bench comprised of Boffin, Faye, Noble, Sears and Cole. Sears getting the call over Collison for what he displayed off the bench on Monday.
I expect our tails to be up for this one. Brimming with confidence after the dogged performance at Brighton and our last home match thrashing of Blackpool fresh in the minds.
Leicester have been mediocre away from home this season, winning only one, losing only one but drawing four. Only scoring 4 but conceding just 5.
After a bit of digging on Leicester's side, i have noticed that without their captain (Matt Mills), who is banned for this game, Leicester have: Won - 1, Lost - 3 and Drew - 0 ...
Compared to their results with him in the side they have: Won - 4, Lost - 1 and Drew 4
Cause for optimism.
