Hull City 0 West Ham Utd 2 (05/11/11)
v
Saturday, 5th November 3PM. KC Stadium
Hull City Last 6: LWWDWD
West Ham United Last 6: DWWLWD
With both sides winning 3, drawing 2 and just the one defeat from their last 6, this is a tough one to call using the form guide.
West Ham have only been defeated once this season on their travels at St Marys where they lost 1-0 to top of the table Southampton, whilst Hull have lost twice at the KC, to Blackpool in the season opener, and to Crystal Palace on 20th August, both games ending 1-0 to the visitors.
Hull City will start the day in 6th place, and could go 2nd with a 12 goal victory, or 3rd, level on points with current 2nd place sitters West Ham.
DL back with a match thread.
We shall win

Re: Hull v West Ham Match Thread
Must win.
Need to keep up with Southampton. Need to get away from all those chasing us.
Tonight we took a backwards step, no matter how it can be dressed up.
The team need to make up for it.
A 0-1 Brighton performance, or a 4-0 Blackpool performance, it's irrelevant. 3 points please.

With the international break coming up and on a short preparation, think Allardyce will send the team out with a do not lose mentality, rather than must win. 451 written all over it, so whoever is fit to start from Cole, Carew or Piq up top.
The last thing BFS will want is to go into the break on the back of a home draw and away loss.
See this being 0-0 or 1-1 and likely the same kind of match as Brighton.

For various reasons this is my first game of the season so I am well looking forward to travelling down on Saturday. I also expect to see a 4-5-1 formation and if Carew is not fit I would go with Cole.
Hoping to be entertained but to be honest not expecting too much fireworks on the pitch but expect us to leave with at least one point.

Agreed, not bothered about Southampton winning, just need to start breaking away, making the gap bigger.

Going up from Kent for this one so a nice early start for me and a long day, hopefully it's all worth it and we get the 3 points. Reckon we'll go 4-5-1 and hoping for a 2-0 win, but Hull have been playing well so can see a draw.

We may not win, but we won't get beat..
That Team & the way it's shaped up wouldn't be losing a Game in this Division..

Yes pleaseHackney Hammer wrote:
Sam said he wanted to ease Cole back into a full 90. But i don't think we can afford to have Piq upfront on his own for this one. We need a lone striker to hold the ball up, if that happens, we can win this.

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd: match thread
if we play 4411 (oh sorry sam, 433) as we probably will, is worth betting a tenner on 0 - 0.
anyone knows where i can find the better odds for that result?
i hope piq stays home, too. i'm sure he could manage to stay off side even while sitting on his own coach.

Hull's home form ain't spectacular, its their away form that puts them in good positions on the table.
0-2; Nolan and a dodgy own goal.

Really hoping that we´ll play 442 considering what players we have fit. Hoping for:
----------------------------Green
O´Brien----------Faye-------Tonks-----Linda
Faubert--------Noble----------Nolan----Collison
--------------------Baldock-------Cole
Subs: Boffin, Piq, Sears, Papa, Montenegro

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd: match thread
Echoing previous posters but that above 4-5-1 and personnel can not be argued with. If Cole has a good day, we'll win with that side, simple as. Depending how tonight goes in York, will either be over in Hull at 11.51 or 12:49. Sounds like that boozer outside the station will be rammed.

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd: match thread
We were not clinical enough on Tuesday, we can't be missing chances against these or we will get beat. Cryotherapy or not, the lads need to get on it quickly and dominate - it won't make any difference what formation we play; we just need to play better than they do and put the ball in the onion bag more than them ...1-3

Could be a very tough game if our forward don't start taking the chances .
0-0 or a loss .

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd: match thread
Number of players missing is madness
Taylor
Reid
Carew
Demel
Lansbury
Bentley
O Neill
Taylor and Reid both starters 100%.
Carew the form he's been in and his partnership with Baldock means he should be starting
Demel we haven't even seen yet, but based on his experience and size you'd fancy him to start ahead of O'Brien.
Lansbury and Bentley both offer creativity, something we don't have in the team really at the moment, so at least one of these if not both would be starting.
O Neill...well he's probably a squad player, but should be looking to make the bench
Im just praying we don't get anymore injuries tomorrow, and given that we have a 2 week break, can hope we have taylor, carew and demel all fit for coventry. Then look forward to reid and lansbury returning before xmas.
