We were a shambles for two seasons, half our squad weren't here last season, yet we're second.
I doubt Southampton will be above us at the end of a very long season. they haven't yet had injury problems.
Fair play to your view and I believe we will be above Southampton at the end of it, but there are other teams who are hitting form now too and will be challenging for our slot; what went on last season, after 16 games in this one, shouldn't be influencing the way we continue to relinquish the initiative in games we're already winning - it's quite bizarre to watch and gives hope to opposition who really shouldn't be given a sniff of it. We seem intent on walking a tightrope in games forgetting there should be a safety net underneath, when the right option is to not walk it in the first place. It's a concern for me that it seems Ok for us to do this with such complacency.

It's not to detract from a terrific away win today, but something we slip into when we're apparently in control of games.

Sounds like they were on top first half, but 3 points away from home always welcome considering that was our 4th game in less than 2 weeks and with injury problems. Looked at squad sheets for us v Bristol and even they have a bigger squad

Well done big sam, ignore the booers

Great result! Couldn't care less on the style away from home, it's so nice to be that annoying team on the road.

Another game another win. Keep the points rolling in.

This was a good win against a decent side aswell. Nice to see Baldock continuing to score aswell.

We looked very good for the first 20 minutes of the second half.

No complaints about the result - always nice to nick a win - still not sure about our tactics though.

I lost track of the number of times the ball bypassed the midfield and just got hoofed up front for someone to chase. Just wondering if we're employing that by design or default. Design = BFS knows our midfield isn't strong right now, so asks the back four to hoof it up and see what happens, or Default = Back four haven't got a clue what to do so they revert to hoofing it. Any of you lot have insight on this?

Baldock did very well in finishing Cole's glancing header - an opportunistic strike, yes, but that's becoming his trademark. The lad seems like he knows how to strike a ball. Right place, right time n' all that.

Surprisingly (IMHO), Cole's first touch for the second goal was perfect. We know that he's fast, strong, and on occasion, can hammer the ball in. But it doesn't always go that way for Carlton.

Back to his first touch for the second goal: it wrong-footed his marker, put the ball into space, and put Cole in the perfect position for him to play Collison in. And it was a perfectly weighted pass. Collison did very well to finish the way he did. Noble, Cole, and Collision did a great job in making that second goal look easy. Of course, the goal was far from easy, but spot-on passing and control made it look that way. For a moment there - and just a moment - we looked like Barcelona.

Finally, big thx to the dodgy website in Kazakhstan for the streaming . . . hope my PC hasn't been taken over by trojans that are now emptying my bank accounts . . .

Agreed .

Hull are a decent outfit, currently playing well generally speaking .

Faye and Green were outstanding, with both contributing immensly to the result .In fairness Hull cut through us reguarly in the first half and I felt we were fortunate to go into the break all square, but 10 good minutes in the second half were sufficient to get the points .

Two good goals, the first well finished by top scorer Baldock , the second well crafted by Noble, Cole and Collison , who scored .

Faye was a beast , and the team showed some real desire defensively .

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice chat over quite a few pints with Gnome before the game, and I got to see my previously-ambivalent daughter jumping up and down when the second goal went in, singing and shouting at the top of her voice. Wasn't the best performance in the first half, but we looked pretty comfortable for most of the second half. Two well-taken goals, and some fabulous performances; in particular, Faye and Green looked particularly good, and Cole changed the game when he came on. Looking forward to the highlights! :crest:

Great result for us today, first half performance wasn't great, but second we come out and gave it to them, really really happy. Atmosphere in the first half wasn't particularly good but second was ok. Anyone else see the bloke who got escorted out by the stewards after us all chanting "the babys not yours"?
