Great second half. Bringing Cole on changed the game, needed that 3 points to keep up with Southampton. They have to slip up at one point so we need to be up there to take advantage. Faye and Green were brilliant

I might be homeless because of the floods here in Thailand, but it feels good to get 3 pts. and it feels good staying in a 5 star hotel with 3 points. the buffet chef on the bacon recognized my West Ham shirt as well. I'll be wearing in the morn...
into the intl break with a nice 3 pts in the bag. well done the boys and BS :raver:

Danny Potts, a young defender, was on the benchChrissieboy wrote:Surely should have been a young defender or midfielder on the bench instead of that plum? Lucky that Faye lasted the match.

Very happy with that, another 3 points away from home and a clean sheet.

Faye & Green joint MOM for me - Faye is a man-mountain and Green pulled off a bunch of match winning saves. Great start to the second half but after we scored the goals it was 30 minutes of the alamo, though we came through it. We are still a poor side in possession imo. Cole deserves a mention as he had an impact when coming on, just a shame he doesn't win many headers.
Another smash and grab performance really - emphasized by the shots on target stats: they had 14, we had 2...

I did wonder about that and thought maybe I was just being churlish, but we really didn't do too much in attack in the last quarter of the game, did we?Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:I've just had a thought. We're two up in injury time and Green has had to make two world class saves

Not the greatest performance you will ever see but a lot of individual performances and people doing their jobs well, green, Faye, Faubert, collison, diop, cole, baldock... The others were mosltly quietly effective really.
Great result

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd: match thread
We were barely in their half once since we scored the goals. It was mainly because we don't have the speed/quality to play it out from the back or keep it in midfield so it gets lumped up to our centre forward by Green or our defenders. As Cole doesn't win any headers the ball kept on coming back at us putting us under pressure. We defended pretty well for the most part though. Cole needs the ball on the floor, always has - Carew is a much better target man. Piquionne is just...Piquionne.

Green and faye were excellent
well done lads
special mention for jack collison too though - rarely gave up possession and well taken goal after getting forward to support well. unbeaten with Jack's starts still. over 2.5 points per game average with his starts - 9 starts, 7W, 2D, 0L

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd: match thread
I don't get this mass mentality from the team that we have to sit back to protect a lead; we put ourselves under all sorts of pressure last 15 minutes and but for Green could've been pegged back - do we think this order comes from Allardyce? It doesn't make sense - Southampton got pegged back to 2-2 today but didn't settle for the draw or respect the point; we do need to get more ruthless when we're on top.

Good alround performance doing what you need to do to win away. Piq why??? I thought the Cole sub changed the gameIf we supported him quicker with numbers we could have scored a few more. Greeno ,Faye and Foobar

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd: match thread
Resultof the season so far, i have no idea of our performance because i have not seen it.
We played a top championship side who have been on a good run not a bottom team like Coventry, thats the difference
in ours and the Saints results today.
