This has a strong whiff of West Ham about it.
2nd in the league, taking 6000 plus fans against one of the worst team in the league.
We are gonna get tonked.

Re: Coventry City v West Ham Utd: match thread
433 away from home usually works only when you have the best team in the world, which is not quite the case yet at West Ham.
I'd stick with what's given us a good away record so far this season: 451 or 4231, however you wnat to dress it up
Green
O'Brien Tomkins Faye Mc
Diop Noble
Faubert Nolan Collison
Cole or Carew (whoever's fittest)
Kuruch, Demel, Baldock, Taylor (if fit, Sears if not), Cole/Carew
What's happened to Boffin? - Sam's given up on him? Decided Kurucz is better?
I'd like to see Demel get some minutes
I'd also like to have seen Montano on the bench for this one, but he's been whisked off to Barcelona, I mean Dagenham

Re: Coventry City v West Ham Utd: match thread
Despite a great win up at Hull, I think Big Sam would have been disappointed with the amount of chances we let them have (without Greeno it could have been a different game) and as a result I think he will tighten up the line up for this game.
I can not see Demel starting, or even being included, surely he would have had 90mins for the development squad if he was fully fit? Instead he had 45.
I am 50/50 on Taylor coming straight back in too, as our only natural lefty it would be very tempting, but rushing him back in yet again (think it would be the 3rd or 4th time) would be just plain stupid. Much better to have him on the bench if needed.
Nolan will start every game that he is available for. Some you on here do not seem to get that. He is the 1st name on Sam's note pad every week, in fact I think he has a pre printed note pad with Nolan already on it.
I expect it to be a 4-5-1 formation (which Sam will of course tell us is actually 4-3-3) and I expect the game to be a little bit like Watford away. Tight for the first half, make a break through, run out comfortable winners.
Starting...
---------------------Green
O'Brien Faye Tomkins McCartney
Faubert Noble Nolan Diop Collison
----------------------Cole----------------------
And then...
--------------------Green
O'Brien Faye Tomkins McCartney
---Faubert Noble Nolan Collison----
--------------Cole Baldock----------------
0-0 HT
0-3 FT
The 6000+ will struggle to get any real sustained singing going...
There will be large scale frustration at the lack of 10 first half goals...
We will get on top early in the 2nd half meaning around 1000 of the frustrated fans will deservedly miss the goal...
We will get stronger as Cov fall away and give up...
We will finish the day 3 points and 2 goals off the top!
I will get battered, have a great day out, miss my mates wet the baby's head drinks which I have promised I will make and end up in a curry house!

Re: Coventry City v West Ham Utd: match thread
Whilst I would have tended to agree that Sam would have gone for a more cautious line-up after Hull tested us at the back a few weeks ago, this is Coventry, not Hull, and they are truly awful.
--------------------Green-------------------
O'Brien Faye Tomkins McCartney
---Faubert Noble Nolan Collison----
---------------Cole Baldock---------------
Expect Baldock to play a bit deeper in the first half but off the shoulder of the last defender in the second. Demel to replace O'Brien at 65 minutes, Carew for Cole at 70 minutes and Sears for Collison late on.
3-0 after 1-0 at half time. Baldock, Nolan and Tomkins.

Actually, after gifting Southampton a 2 goal lead I believe they very nearly fought their way back into the last home game... They are going to tighten up thier system, so maybe not quite the pushovers everyone believes.wizzo_66 wrote:Whilst I would have tended to agree that Sam would have gone for a more cautious line-up after Hull tested us at the back a few weeks ago, this is Coventry, not Hull, and they are truly awful.

Re: Coventry City v West Ham Utd: match thread
Really looking forward to tomorrow - missed the last five games and looking forward to seeing the team again.
Sam does play cautious away from home but he must think that this a game where we should impose ourselves and get three points.
I'm happy to trust him with the team selection, there are cases for all kinds of line-ups, but I don't think he has really got it wrong so far.
Two nice comfortable wins in the next two games will be nice. This could be where we step up a gear performance wise.
A few goals and another clean sheet will do tomorrow.

With us taking all the fans, we are just bound to lose and put in a **** performance.
With that said I'm trying to convince myself it will be 1-0 to us.

Coventry are the only team in the top 4 divisions not to have finished in a top 4 of any division for the last 40 years
Not a lot of people know that

By way of balance, they spent a massively disproportionate number of years in the top flight when it was The First Division downwards.Paulo Wanchope wrote:Coventry are the only team in the top 4 divisions not to have finished in a top 4 of any division for the last 40 years

Kind of sad they're such a busted flush these days.
Re: Coventry City v West Ham Utd: match thread
Manager Allardyce, won't bottle it in front of over 6,000 faithful of the best away supporrters in the league, will he ?.
Nah............
Two weeks to prepare, a full squad, we'll be up three by the half................
A nice away win 1-5.
COYI.
4-5-1 it is then.
