Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
The ref was a jobsworth and missed a few things. Had worse but had better.
We should never has lost, as had been said already, but we played well. Nolan had his best game so far for us and started to well up after he scored, you could tell it meant a lot to him.
Collison was class but Noble needs lessons in quick passing, fast.

Typical west ham really. Having said that I'm more pissed off with the lost chance of going top than the actual result.
The difficult thing is that in this league it makes the next game after a loss an automatic 6 pointer for us.
Was disappointed with the amount of fans slagging the team off from the first minute.

Pretty disappointed. Early domination gave me a positive mindset but it just got increasingly frustrating. We seemed to be far too one dimensional today which I think made it easier than it should have been for Burnley. These are the sorts of games where we need that playmaker who can unpick a defence. Currently I don't think we have a player such as this on the books. The finishing was so poor today I doubt a player like that would have mattered anyway.
With reagrds to player performance I believe A.Faye stood out. Put in some great tackles and seemed to head everything away. If I counted rightly I think he got beaten in the air once. I didn't see the marking for the two Burnley goals as I was at the other end so not sure if he was at fault for either of the headers.
Mark Noble again played pretty well but he was given a lot of time I thought. Nolan was ok. Faubert had a good first half but a poor second half.
At the end of the day I think Sam Baldock would have made the difference today and we'd be coming away with 3 points had he played.

Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
Think we are a bit too one dimensional....would like to see something different because I think Bristol City showed teams that we can be stifled fairly easily, and usually two big lumps at the back can better our one big lump up front......now we have gotten by the past few weeks but I think (only of course hearing off the radio and our Jules ain't that good of a commentator) we go too direct too many times, and because we don't get to the byline that often our crosses when even remotely decent can usually be nullified from the area of the field they come in from.
Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
My take on the Nolan apparent open goal miss in 1st half was that it was not his fault. Son and I were in line with that play.
Cole [think it was him] only had to square the ball to him and frankly my 14 month grand daughter would have scored. However he over hit the pass and Nolan had to stretch and ended up virtually sliding to connect.
Intereresting to see if highlights show and confirm that.
Yes we dominated play, but some of our build up, particularly after we went down was so boring - are they instructions only to lob ball down left hand side from defence, as everything seemed to go there. Couldn't understand having Cole, Piquionne and Carew all on together. Wasn't Sears on the bench and could we not have done with someone with a bit if pace to try and latch onto flick ons.
Also dissapointed that with suh a tall athletic team, we didn't seem to get one header on target, and conceded 2 goals in the air. Surprised Green couldn't get near either, particualrly 2nd which came from some way out.

Whovever started the "It's just like watching Brazil" - hang your head in shame...
Some decent footie, still not sure how we lost - but as soon as the Brazil chant came up I knew it was curtains ....
well done Burnley - you thieving ****ers are probably still pinching yourselves

I wonder if avram is sitting at home and thinking,
As bad as my west ham team was last season, we beat a better Burnley 5-1.

Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
The team thought they'd won after the first goal and completely relaxed. A period of sloppy play culminated in two free headers and giving the opposition more time on the ball in that short spell than they had in the rest of the game put together.
Surprised an Allardyce team can lose their focus and concentration like that and I'd expect him to go into meltdown after the game as it was a thoroughly unprofessional thing to do.
Shame because up until we scored it was just about whether Burnley could desperately hold on.

Just seen attendance was 26,274, not great wonder if we'll do better for Barnsley.

How the f*** we lost that I will never know!
We battered them from start to finish.
Special mention to Collison and Nolan who I thought we excellant.
Also mention to Faubert for the worst header ever.
But ****ing hell, how the f*** did they beat us?
