Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I can see this being a very tough game for us but another tight 'Coventry' type of win...
I initially thought we would bounce back by smashing them out of sight but now am less optimistic. Reading do not really get smashed out of sight, in fact a large majority of their games this season have been decided by one goal or drawn.
With a packed house and a chance to cause an 'upset' or take a 'big scalp' (these would not be my choice of words) from West Ham I fully expect their players to be up for it from the off. That said, I fully expect us to be able to cope with the pressure, soak it up and get on top in the final half an hour.
I won't claim to know too much about Reading but from what I have seen/read they have lacked firepower since letting Long go at such a late stage and have lacked creativity for a number of seasons.
I would expect to see our 'defensive 4-3-3' formation employed from the start (its 4-5-1 Sam, we are not stupid) and do not expect us to be in the lead by half time. But I do think we have enough to go on and win the game.
Green
Demel (didn't make it up to Boro due to work commitments but the lads I go with said he was very strong)
Tomkins
Faye
McCartney
Faubert
Noble
Diop
Nolan
Collison
Carew (would not be my choice but seems to get the nod to start in this formation)
Cole & Piquionne seem to be preferred as impact subs and will no doubt both come on for Demel and Diop as we look for a winner.
O'Brien will no doubt come on for Carew as soon as we score what will prove to be the winner, just to cause a bit of confusion and invite a bit of pressure.
Sears & Stech will no doubt be cold at they kick about at half time.
1-0 half time... 1-2 full time!

£10.99 for an open off-peak return (with railcard) to Reads from Padds.
Thought it would be a lot worst than.

Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Im expecting a demolition tomorrow.
I reckon Allardyce and Nolan will get right in to the team before Kick off, and we will be extremely focused.
MY PREDICTION: We go top tomorrow and we won't be caught!

I had never realised how much of a big deal the whole 'standing' issue is for them! One guy claims Millwall fans were 'getting away with murder'... hardly a fair comparison between taking a life and standing in an away end... oh and 'at least one seat was broken'!
I know it shouldn't, but it did make me chuckle to read that a Steward headbutted a home fan... a full scale riot kicked off at half time of the Coventry game just because of some pushing and shoving in the away end!
Should make for some funny songs though if they are being made to sit...
We Stand when we like...
We Stand when we like...
We're West Ham United... We Stand when we like!
Stand up...
When their backs are turned...
Stand up...
When their backs are turned...
We are standing up...
Say we are standing up...
We're standing up...
We're standing up...
We're standing...
We are standing up...
