Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I think the full backs are ok for this division...look at their first goal, the only one against 11 men. Mc Anuff, waltzed around Faubert and Piq to create the opening. Happening all the time So much pressure because of the weak midfield. The fact that we have shipped so few goals is an endorsement to our defence I would think.

Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I agree but reading a few posts, people don't want him in the team just because of Jack Collison. I want to see Jack progressing, don't get me wrong, but if he gets a three game ban like yesterday and Lansbury does the business then he has to accept it and work his way back in. I personally think you could play both at the same time and have a creative midfield but that would mean Nolan having a spell on the bench and we know that isn't happening..RyanWHUFC wrote:
I wouldn't say everyone is being harsh, but the last couple of times before he was injured he was an average player not playing very well IMO, Jack has come in since then and IMO played brilliantly, his movement against Burnley I thought was superb and his linking up with Faubert all game and if he can get a consistent run I believe he can still improve as a player, but obviously he hasn't done himself any favours getting sent off yesterday.
On another note I still have issues with this Nolan, he goes missing far too often. He has scored goals so i'm not complaining there but you could argue we started with 10 men yesterday. His first touch was shocking the three times he received the ball and he couldn't make a 5 yard pass. He does not get involved anywhere near enough and maybe a spell on the bench will give him a very much needed kick up the arse. His goals are valuable but the position he plays requires him to work a lot harder and i am far from impressed,

Faubert must've said something pretty bad as Kebe got up straightaway (after feigning injury) to confront him. Well done Jack and well done Faubert. Would gladly accept another red for someone to go right through Kebe again at our home fixture- hopefully it will be Nolan as does f*ck all anyway.Nacho Man wrote:
Also loads of our players seemed to surround him whilst on the ground giving him a mouthful for taking the piss
I assume.

Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
No need to worry. After all, apparently we were beaten by: "By far, the greatest team the world has ever seen!"
Poor performance yesterday; as soon as I saw the line up I knew we'd struggle. Collison is not a winger and Piq should not be anywhere near the team with his "work rate". We should play 4-4-2; we don't have the players for 4-5-1 (Oh, I mean 4-3-3) - no pacey wingers for a start. I think its time to start bringing in some of the youngsters; surely they'll have the hunger and desire to put in 110%? Maybe with the injuries/suspensions we will see some of them in the coming weeks.
I thought yesterday our fans started well but I was disappointed that it went so quiet after Reading got their first and even more disappointed that so many had left by FT. That was embarrassing and in my opinion NOT West Ham.
Thought the "hardcore" Reading fans to our right were great with their amazing ability to change the words of chants we'd already sung at them - so imaginative!
Anyway, onwards and upwards, there's still a long way to go - COYI!

Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Their first goal was scored a minute after O'brien was sent off, Made by a run through the space he would have occupied because we did not reorganise quickly enough. The sending off changed a game meandering towards a 0-0 draw. Neither keeper had made a save up till then. A shame for our fans who were humiliating the locals and way outperformed the team. A great day out up until the sendinf off!irving boleyn wrote:I think the full backs are ok for this division...look at their first goal, the only one against 11 men..

Jimmy Kebe you ****ing woman... just saw the incident again, Jack shouldn't of done it in the light of things as to avoid getting sent off but for ****'s sake, its pathetic.

Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I think he brings drive into the midfield and is ten times the player when played in the middle of it....and was our best attacking player last week.irving boleyn wrote:I have accepted we DO watch different games, mate. Jack, apart from a few nice touches when having plenty of room in his own half last week, has proved to be lacking in all areas when at the sharp end of things, except effort,of course, which is valued so highly.
Good that we can both chat about the same game from different without falling out

Fair enough hes not ours, but hes needed and is a very decent player on his day. If he comes back and plays well then Jack will just have to his work way back like anyone else would.
In September he was apparently a World Beater on here....

We may say we need new full backs, but they are still better than most others in this division

It's clearly a tactical decision to do so. Often it happens without even looking at options from the midfield.TheAlmightyAmmer wrote:I'd say 80% of our hoofing comes from our full backs

I wouldn't know how good most are...we don't attack anyone.Hammer Matty wrote:We may say we need new full backs, but they are still better than most others in this division
The Reading keeper could have had a game of darts with Stevie Wonder for 90 mins yesterday.
Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I'd say 100% of that is down to the instructions from the manager.TheAlmightyAmmer wrote:I'd say 80% of our hoofing comes from our full backs
McCartney is shocking though.
Re: Reading vs West Ham Utd: match thread
It was disrespectful what Kebe did but if it were on the otherhand and say Faubert or Piq did it i think people on here would hold them up as 'club legends'
move on.
move on.

Point of order squire .That needs qualifying with a few additional words such asRomford wrote: In September he was apparently a World Beater on here....
" according to some, but definately not Pink Palermo who for the life of him doesn't understand why we would want to be a finsihing school for an Arsenal player whilst the likes of Jack Collison would struggle to get a game"

If Faubert or Piq did it, I would call them a ****
Two players I liked in the last week, I now dislike, Seb Larsson of Sunderland, and Kebe from Reading.
