Sorry, two bald guys in that picture, one in a red bib behind Faubert who you can hardly see in this snap but in a better pic below...wizzo_66 wrote:Bald guy hasn't got a bib on and is Faubert. So that looks like Faubert and Vaz Te either side of Cole.
Agree that it could well be those three up top though. Taylor must be injured again? or playing in the middle??

Hoping I can get my laptop to connect to my schools WiFi so I can at least follow the game via text. It will help me drone out my boring Statistics class.

Re: West Ham Utd v Southampton: match thread
Great looking line up there. Agree with all the players but 5-3-2 has a tendency to go really tits up if the team isn't trained well in it. It can cause a massive gap between the wing backs and centre backs which is easily exploited.wizzo_66 wrote:Would love to see us play 5-3-2 one day soon. Something like....

I'd drop Taylor to left back, shift Reid to right back and play with a flat back four. Then have Faubert, Noble, Morrison, Collison in midfield.

Nervous and excited about this one all at the same time, really could go either way.
Hoping ravel will get a cameo appearance in this as well, can't see him starting.

Lifted from the Peterborough thread:
Would be a big game for Collison in centre midfield replacing Nolan.Swiss Pauli wrote:4-1-4-1 for a 2-1 win:

4-1-4-1 for a 2-1 win:
Green - O'Brien, Faye, Reid, McCartney - Tomkins - Faubert, Collison, Noble, Taylor - Cole.
Great. One Goalkeeper, 7 defenders plus Collison , Noble and Cole. Didnt we used to play 4 defenders, 4 midfielders (all attacking and maybe one to do some defending) and a 2 man strike partnership?...What happened to football?..What the hell is a 4-1-4-1 formation?

Like all things in life, football changes.shammy wrote:What happened to football?..What the hell is a 4-1-4-1 formation?
A 4-1-4-1 is a jazzed up way to say we're gonna use a 5 man midfield, with one holding, sitting in front of the back 4 & protecting them the best he can.
The problem is the terminology's all changing at the moment because of the technology coming in & it isn't uniformed at the moment so one formation can actually be classed as a few different number lay outs.
I'm still adamant though that formations will soon be a thing of the past with the terminology currently being used as it is like 4-1-4-1 etc, as it's really all about how a team does and doesn't keep its shape and does or doesn't get dragged about & like i've always said, no team defends with 4 nor attacks with 1 or 2 anyway..

Re: West Ham Utd v Southampton: match thread
Not bothered who plays or who plays where for us!
For once, whatever team goes out there, lets play some entertaining football, win the game and revel in a cracking atmosphere at the Boleyn under the lights.
Not too much to ask, is it?

Well entertaining players in attacking frames of mind tends to lead to entertaining football. So I am afraid it is too much to ask.sussexhammer74 wrote:Not bothered who plays or who plays where for us!
