Re: West Ham Utd v Watford: match thread
I think we need to give both Noble and Tomkins a rest, although Doncaster might be the better game to do that given they're dead last - if we can't beat them at home with a few first teamers being rotated then we deserve what we get.

Lansbury has kept those abilities well hidden during his time at the club for the most part.CockneyBoy7 wrote:Can someone please explain to me why Big Sam and all previous managers of WHUFC seem to see some potential in Collison, He is for definite our weakest link. I can't get my head around it why sam insists on starting him when we have lansbury on the bench who has all that flair, pace and a great footballing brain. Maybe it is just me but I really don't understand it. Anyway... Team for Watford,

Keep the same team from Sunday, I thought we looked pretty comfortable.

i agree lansbury was nowhere vs cardiff lol.
About time we got a big win so going for 5-1.
Ravel on bench.

Re: West Ham Utd v Watford: match thread
2 or 3 changes for this game. Allardyce conceded that playing the same team against Palace that played against Blackpool was a bad idea as the players were so tired. In light of that, changes will definitley be made for this one, using the squad to it's full potential and giving some other players much deserved game time.
I'd love to see a partnership of Baldock/Maynard but having played 4-5-1/4-3-3 all season, it aint gonna happen now!
Collison needs a rest, Cole needs to start and Baldock needs to play.
I'd go:
.................................Green......................................
JOB..............Faye................Tomkins...........Linda
........Lansbury...........Noble................Nolan...............
...Faubert...................Cole..........................Taylor....
Bench: Reid/Potts , Maynard, Baldock, Vaz Te, O'Neil/ Ravel (If Sam thinks he's ready)
Faubert back in (if fit), if not, Vaz Te on the right. Taylor straight back in and Carlton leading the line.
If we are 2 or more goals up at the 50 minute mark, Baldock on for Cole, give him as much game time as possible but i wouldn't put him out wide or leading the line at 0-0/1-0.

Probably because he was man-marking Whittingham the entire game.Biglee92 wrote: i agree lansbury was nowhere vs cardiff lol.

Got tickets for this. Havent been for a few months so looking forward to it. I'm hoping I feel better though I feel like I've been beaten up with this cold.
I'd play the same team that played Cardiff. People need to lay off Maynard IMO he's only just joined us ffs

Re: West Ham Utd v Watford: match thread
Hi Guys,
I did not want to start a new thread as this may have been asked a hundred times before so apologies if so.
Im going to the Watford game tommorow night, my first West Ham game since the Di Canio days! Due to that being several years ago i was'nt much of a drinker back then as i was only a lad.
Anyway waffle aside, im wondering if you know any pubs near the ground that me and a work mate could have a cheeky couple in before kick off? Looking for a freindly place with a good atmosphere.
Cheers
Mark

Think our usual home 433 formation will be used. Cole to start to work on their CB's. If Watford watched the Palace
tape, don't think they will be adventurous and rely on counter attack. So either have to break them down with sheer power and force or pace and guile.
Try to batter them to start and get an early goal, if that doesn't work then Cole, Faubert off and Maynard, Vaz Te on.
Could be a good match to get Ravel some minutes on the pitch, if the manager thinks he's ready. Either way, wer'e playing
Watford, so need to keep the winning momentum going. We should have to much for them to handle, but will need to put in the work rate and effort again.

Re: West Ham Utd v Watford: match thread
Has to be 4-4-2, imo
Ideally Cole with one of Maynard/Balders as the front pair. See how Watford cope with the "big man" threat. If they're coping well, I'd sub Cole and go with a wee-man pairing. If Cole is causing problems, switch Maynard for Balders, so all 3 play part of the game
I'd play Tomkins in midfield and Reid at the back, if possible. Tomkins sits in front of the back 4, everyone else attacks
Which kind of only leaves one place in CM for Noble/Nolan/Collison.
I can see the logic in pairing Tomka & Nolan in the middle, with Noble dropping to the bench. If we are chasing the game late on, Noble can come into the middle as the deepest CM
I guess I'd be inclined to start with:-

Re: West Ham Utd v Watford: match thread
I would keep Faye back too, he has been playing well, but probably needs to give his body a few days more rest than the youngsters.
Hopefully Reid is OK to slot back into the team.
Taylor should be fit and raring to go after his enforced rest.
Fauberts had some good games, but I feel Vaz Te gives us that extra goal threat and it would be good to see him on the right instead of always out on the left.

2 or 3-0 to the Irons, and top again as the Tractor boys play a blinder against Soton tonight

Re: West Ham Utd v Watford: match thread
Wonder how many they've sold for this? The 20 quid tickets seem to have been on sale forever but they've obviously not shifted them all yet
Re: West Ham Utd v Watford: match thread
Pretty sure that, with the exception of Collison, is our First XI.Clacton-ammer wrote:I like that Bubble, It won't happen but I like it
