- Baldock. Lively, but wasteful. When he joined he was like a breath of fresh air. No he's like a stale breaking of wind. Needs someone big and strong up front alongside him. Needs to regain confidence and soon. Oh and that song. Do me a favour.

nice summary rio.havent seen your missives here for a while!

agreed- what the **** is it with that baldock song. can we just agree that any **** we hear trying to sing it we elbow. hard. not even funny. offensive in fact.

thought both maynard and baldock looked lively, but they are not(not ever will be..!?) premiership strikers, and the poor touch on maynard surprises me. great chnace v leeds, cracking chances yesterday

Maybe that's why Sam persists with his England striker Cole ? FWIW, I reckon Baldock and Maynard may be back up options - fresh legs in the top flight , but non starters .

The worry for me is we have a great many players who are not bossing matches in this division , but are contracted way beyond the end of this year .

Perhaps the criticism of the Manger is a touch harsh ?

spot on TPP, however he signed most of them. None of the players we have looks a level above what we've played. many have struggled.

In what respect Pinky ?

Green ~ expiring
JOB ~ BFS signing (presume his contract is longer than this year ?)
Demel ~ ditto
Reid ~ previous (who knows who signed him)
Tonka ~ new deal
Linda ~ loan
Noble ~ long term deal presumable
Collison ~ new contract
Diop ~ due to expire I think
Faye ~ 1 year deal wasn't it ?
Maynard ~ new signing BFS
Baldock ~ new signing BFS
Cole ~ previous management still a couple of years I would expect
Carew ~ expires
Piq ~ previous but 1 more year
Morrison ~ new signing BFS
Vaz Te ~ new signing BFS
Lansbury ~ loan
Nolan ~ long term deal BFS

If as you suggest, that Maynard and Baldock ain't good enough, Vaz Te never made while up there, Only really then Nolan out of BFS signings look good enough for the PL (if we get there ~ not trying to tempt fate). 7 signings on more than a 1 year deal only of whom you think is good enough to play at the next level.

Noble can hold his own as can Tonka I reckon. Reid ? We needed a new goalie because Green might be off and we need a good back up anyway.

So (and although I understand we ain't attracting Nigel de Jong whatever you might think  ) the influx of new talent is down to the new bloke.

True, but without making too many excuses for him the budget constraintshe operates in whilst trying to get players who can do it in the top flight are huge .

I suspect one or two may be in for a shock when we go to restock the player larder with proven PL quality .

What price a youthful high energy creative midfielder , or a proven DM ? What price a 12 goal a season striker ? How soft did we look at CB yesterday without Faye the beast ?

It's 5 years since we went to the market to buy proven PL quality .Prices have gone up quite a bit .

Pinky I reckon the Gollies ain't going to give BFS a huge wedge of dosh. More of the same I reckon, they will want to consolidate keep the PL money to pay down some debt and considering the last few weeks games and that, they might not be so sure BFS will spend the money wisely. I reckon a couple of "old heads" the odd one or two Bosman's (and we know how the last one worked out TH) and maybe a few bob here and there to shore up positions that we need shoring up in.

Avoid relegation will be BFS remit next year nothing more nothing less. They will have parachute payments if the worst happens.

That's what I see. Not trying to be defeatist or negative. I see them being pragmatic.

Cuenca

Whatever he gets will have to stretch .My take on the players who have contracts beyond the end of this season - 16 of them , is that only 7 are good enough to be regular starters in the top flight .And the ones who are good enough , are by and large only good enough to see us in the bottom six , unless supplemented by some genuine quality .

As much as we dominated the first half yesterday , we were poor .Loads of moves breaking down , poor passing, poor technique, inability to beat a man, one paced etc etc .......

Lambert , who has scored for fun this season and last - how many goals do you think he would get in the top flight ?

I'd be selling at 7 or 8 .

The speculation of a 35M warchest is absolutely way OTT imvho.

I reckon he'll be lucky to get 15M. Tops.

Just back after staying Up North.
Yes we should have won but missed too many chances - perhaps as a result of lack of confidence following the run of draws.
No coincidence that we scored two with two up front and none with just Cole. We simply have to start with two forwards at Peterborough - combination of tall & fat - Cole / Carew & Baldock / Maynard.
I think booing at half time was mainly for Allerdyce and his tactics - he totlaly ignored fans when he walked off at end of the game.
Most enjoyable half hour of the day was the train back to Preston.

This is a point of fundamental importance.

We are presently struggling to distance ourselves from 6-8 also ran teams, who have a shout of getting some play off action.

Regardless of tactics, or player availability, at the moment I wonder which if any Prem teams we could sensibly believe we would match, still less beat...

QPR (because of their laughable defence)?
Wolves?

Not many other teams would be even slightly worried about playing us.

burnley are one of the most limited teams ive seen this year. yet theyve taken 4 points off us. how about that.

how on earth we didnt win each half, by three goals i do not know!

anyways. the die is cast. play offs beckon. **** know what now

we could/should have been going into next saturday with nine points on board--now we'll be lucky to have three

If I were you I'd knock the spread betting on players' goal scoring on the head.

I think we are in trouble next season without big big investment in the playing side either way.

Green will be off if we don't go up, will probably go if we do.
Tomkins still switches off at times will get better but needs experience around him
Linda may stay as back up
O'Brien signed on a one year, can't see him staying
Faye may stay
Collins will stay on small fee
Reid another casualty of making savings
Diop is a goner
Noble will stay
Nolan will stay
Collison I think will go.
Faubert high wages will see him off
Taylor will stay
Carew gone
Piq gone
Baldock gone
Maynard stay
Cole stay due to his knees
Vaz Te stay in this league gone in prem
Barrera gone
Nouble gone

This is massive upheaval all gambled on a premiership return

Yep , and neither of those two will be in the PL next year .

And look how much each have spent, and have had respected Managers at the helm for most of the season .

Just over a year ago we drew 2-2 at Goodison - and I felt we were unlucky not to win .I'd be petrified of going there with the current squad .

And Baines - the player that made Barerra look good - is their top scorer with 4 .
