Re: Peterborough United v West Ham United: Match Thread

I thought that was one of the better performances I have seen this season and we didn't keep hitting it long for Cole either.

First half, they had the chances but it looked like we had more attacking possession. Plenty of wide and attempts to get the ball into the box, just lacking the final ball. Great block by Tomkins to deny Boyd with their best effort.

Second half, we improved and pushed them back further with our passing movements. Good header from Vaz Te (who was good last night) and a great long range shot from O'Neil (his best performance for us that I have seen) gave us a very comfortable finish to the game. Clever Nolan flick would have been a great goal and also had a chance after a long passing movement, going and forth, which led to a corner. Only one Peterborough second half chance forced a good save from Green.

Fans were generally in good voice. Songs about a few former players, banter between the terrace and seating WHUFC fans and plenty of patience.
Couldn't hear Posh fans, but that may have been acoustics. I believe I did hear them booing when Tomkins was injured, but I also believe that was because the ref booked one of their players whilst treatment was going on.

Mate, we must have been standing next to each other as I think that's my bald head that pops up in your vid. We managed to get through most of the old song repertoire. Had three circles and a few let's go ****ing mentals, full hokey cokey, KUMB etc etc.

I very much doubt we'll get a terrace night like that again ever and that's very very sad. That's why us old lot bang on about atmosphere and standing as last night was an example of what it was like week in week out before all seater grounds. It's going to be a stark contrast walking into the BG Saturday with it's mostly sterile atmosphere and half full of melons who will be booing, moaning and ****ing off every 2 minutes. Last night was the perfect example of what going to football used to be about.

I ****ing hate it when someone stumps me!!!

Fair point well made, the only arguement i have is that neither of those were directed at our current manager and the PDC one was, besides the Dailly song is a work of art...

Best i can do im afraid!!

Big guy, started the 'let's all form a circle' a couple of times?

Mate, I thought that was you.

I've only seen you the once, down the Black Lion, so I sort of knew what you looked like.
But I couldn't be ****ed to go through the niceties of asking in the midst of the situation.

Kudos to your starting of songs mate.

I had the mauve hoodie on, to your left. Was f*cking wonderful.

The "play on the ground" was a fair refelection of what we think, was it not?

It came after about 20 minutes of non stop encouragement.... when the hoofing was proving to be non productive. I thought it was very apt, and was just a tiny part of a great display by a wonderful bunch of supporters.

Ive seen a lot of good quality management from Sam, but he ain't perfect and it doesn't hurt to remind him.

Big Sam hails 'perfect' second half.

That'd be when we played it on the floor

That would be when our manager read the game perfectly and made the necessary changes for us to take advantage of them.

If you don't want Allardyce to do well....then he never will.

Yes, Allardyce brought off two injured players. Good job he called on all his managerial experience for that

How did the players respond to the songs etc?

Sam is there to take the flak or praise as manager but its the players whose reaction is important in the short term.

Was a great night and I felt like a kid again rather than just shy of 40.

Seems we may have given credit where none was due, in this instance :)
Allardyce wrote:We had two severe blows at half time. Abdy Faye had to go to hospital with a severe head injury, which we hope is only a severe bruise and not a fractured skull. Joey also pulled a thigh muscle so it shows how important it is that we have the players fit and available.

Greeno loved his little love in.

I thought the players responded to our songs brilliantly. Nolan was rather happy pumping his fists at us a number of times.

The more they played it around on the floor. The more we sang about playing it on the floor. Cheering and giving it the "Ole!" It was fun.

Hokey cokey made my night and the constant crowd surges. Wasnt old enough to experience standing, but last night made me wish we could have that experience every week
